WWE Friday Night SmackDown rolls on. King Corbin backstage says last week they beat down Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak so bad that they had to kiss the king’s feet. So who’s going to want to team with them now? Corbin says he’s looking past tonight at Money In The Bank. He wants to see how far Rey Mysterio can fly, off the roof, perhaps across the street. Says Otis is a fat idiot who won’t even get past the bottom floor. He’ll feel just like his little Mandy, a loser. Corbin says he can already feel the fresh air filling up his lungs from atop the WWE Headquarters. We’re then told the return of Jeff Hardy will finally be up next.
Renee Young introduces him to the ring. I’d been told that he’d be getting Endeverafter back, he wanted to get that theme back and supposedly had actually been told that it would happen but nope, same actual stock music from the 90s. Renee says we’ve been watching the rise and fall and redemption of Jeff Hardy over the past few weeks. Talks about the history he’s made and the championships he’s won, what does he have left to prove? Jeff says he’s not sure but he’s climbed a lot of mountains and also gone to the lowest lows you could imagine. As he goes on about this, Sheamus is watching backstage and essentially saying ‘blah-blah-blah’.
Jeff says he can still hear the people’s voices chanting on his name. The people have stuck with him through his entire career. Tonight he’s here to ask them to stick with him for one more good run in WWE. Because he knows he’s not done yet. Sheamus is appalled, says this is what people have been waiting for? As he walks off, Jeff coincidentally brings up how Sheamus hasn’t interrupted him yet. He can feel his intensity, knows he’s here and dares him to come out here. Sheamus comes back to the stage and says this is the saddest thing he’s ever seen. The adrenaline junkie came back to beg for one more sip of the bottle and the people aren’t even here to give him a pity swig. Sheamus says no one will say this to his face because he’s a legend. But the fans, sure they love him because he’s a maniac and won every title under the sun, but they’re tired of him. They’re tired of the suspensions, the releases, the no shows, and most of all they’re tired of the wasted second chances. Jeff says wow, to be such a hater, he sure does know a lot about him. Sheamus says that’s the sad part. He’s not a hater, he actually used to respect him. But when he saw the video last week he realized, how many false positives can we have only to see he’s never truly coming back?
Jeff says maybe he should ask himself that question. Sheamus says unlike him he’s not afraid of the hard truths. Everybody knows that Jeff’s next failure is right around the corner, everybody but Jeff Hardy. Sheamus says he’s been snuffing out everyone’s flames and Jeff’s has been burning for far too long. Sheamus drops the mic and makes his way into the ring, Jeff greets him with a dropkick, kicks him to the mat, Whisper In The Wind! There’s the Twist of Fate! Up top, Swanton! Jeff standing tall. Honestly, he looked pretty rigid doing all his sigs there but I can’t hold it against him.
