AEW Dynamite rolls on. Taz backstage is talking with Darby Allin to explain what happened at the end of his match with Cody. Taz tells him he put his whole weight on Cody’s chest with the Coffin Drop when Cody turned around with a basic amateur wrestling maneuver, and it’s clear he doesn’t think he knows what he’s talking about. Darby cuts him off and explains that he was actually a premier amatuer wrestler back where he came from and walks off, again not wanting his advice. In the interview area, we see Hikaru Shida who talks about how happy she is to finally be getting a title match. Nyla Rose appears before her and tells her that she knows she’s been looking for something and she just wanted to give it back to her… and then she nails her right over the head with a kendo stick! Nyla smiles into the camera. Now out comes MJF for his first match in quite a while against Lee Johnson, who seems to be a regular jobber for AEW now.
MJF vs. Lee Johnson
Just before the bell, MJF clobbers him with an axe handle blow! Overhead Belly To Belly just sending him flying! Maxwell with a strut, puts the boots to Johnson in the corner and grinds the boot against his throat. Whips him to the ropes and nails him with a clothesline, big flex. Max kicks him right in the head. Pulls him up, Lee with a knife edge chop but doesn’t seem to have much effect. MJF just slaps the everloving crap out of him! Pounds him into the mat and then tosses him from the ring. Goes out with him and demands he make himself famous as he kicks him around ringside. MJF powerbombs him onto the apron! Max came back a lot meaner here, he is decimating this dude. Throws him back into the ring. Yells at some of the faces at ringside. Rolls back into the ring. Butterfly Shoulderbreaker, leads directly into the Salt Of The Earth Bar for the victory!
Winner: MJF
Man that was a mean squash there, he’s definitely worked on getting a more brutal style. It suits him.
He gets on the mic and says he’s so excited to face Jungleboy at Double or Nothing. But he claims he has plenty of ringrust, he feels pretty stiff and asks Lee if he agrees. Says he could use a tuneup match and he happened to see that Marko Stunt’s got an open contract! So he signed his name on the dotted line. So don’t you forget, he’s better than you and you know it.
