In All Elite Wrestling, one wrestler despite his age shows great potential. This is QT Marshall, who is an excellent trainer and his alliances with the Rhodes Family give him proper status in AEW. His tag team dreams alongside Dustin Rhodes in jeopardy after Rhodes was brutalized by Lance Archer in the semi-finals of the TNT Championship tournament. He would take a shot at Lance Archer last week on Dynamite, and fall to the Blackout like the rest who have challenged Archer. While watching back the footage with wrestling legend Diamond Dallas Page, his choice of finisher was criticized. He previously won a match by going to the top rope, his only singles win in AEW thus far. This is not a fitting move for him, but what could be?
QT Marshall Is Not A High Flyer
The AEW roster has some of the best high flying wrestlers in all of professional wrestling. We have the likes of Rey Fenix, Jack Evans, The Young Bucks and more. QT Marshall does not fit into this category, while he is able to move around the ring in an agile manner, he is more of a technical wrestler at the end of the day. His biggest strength is his excellent fundamentals, being a wrestling trainer you have to have the basics down to a science, and that is the case for QT Marshall. Basics aren’t very good at finishing matches however, they can only carry you so far.
He Could Inherit The Diamond Cutter
With him taking mentor-ship from DDP himself, we could see him take over one of the most iconic and simple finishers in wrestling. While The RKO is the most popular cutter in modern times, the path to the jumping cutter was paved by DDP. Being able to hit it from anywhere alongside it’s deadly nature made it a perfect finisher. To use the Diamond Cutter effectively, you need to be able to be adaptable and smooth in the ring. This is what would make it such a perfect fit for someone like QT Marshall.
He might never be AEW Champion, but it is not impossible to see him winning the TNT or Tag Team Championships at some point, especially if he takes over one of the best finishers in wrestling.
