WWE Friday Night SmackDown commences. We begin with Mandy Rose working out backstage as Otis Dozovic comes up to talk to her. She says the match with Sonya is a long time coming. Otis asks how he can help, she tells him to just focus on his Money In The Bank match on Sunday. Says she’s got this. In a different part of backstage we see Sonya Deville doing some severe shadow boxing. Dolph asks if she’s ready. Sonya tells him she’s never been more ready, says Mandy has five years worth of beatings waiting for her tonight. Dolph asks her for one favor, to just go easy on the face. Sonya says no promises. This grudge match is opening up the show! Kinda neat to give it that little prelude first, definitely a different way to start SmackDown on a few levels.
Mandy Rose vs. Sonya Deville
The bell rings and somehow Sonya has her back turned, Mandy of course charges and takes her down with a Pump Kick, pounds her into the corner. Ref has to pull her off. Mandy’s got a bandaged up thigh here and is tending to it after being yanked away. Sonya tries to capitalize but Mandy gets her with a shot right to the face and Deville has to bail out of the ring. Sonya up to the apron, Mandy with a shoulder thrust but it’s dodged, Deville with a knee to the face, into the ring for a driving knee, nearfall! Sonya yells at Mandy and asks if she thinks she’s better than her. Forearm to the face. Mandy pulls herself up on the ropes. Deville with a waistlock takedown into a body scissors. Sonya yells about how this is actually really fun for her to hurt her. She grabs her by the jaw and smacks her stomach. And now she’s ripping out her eyelashes? Wow.
Sonya says Mandy is literally nothing without her looks so let’s take that away. Mandy escapes but Sonya with a kick to the shin takes her down. Tells her that she’s in her world and if she won’t stop embarrassing her, she’ll have to hurt her. Wicked kick to the chest and Mandy’s gasping for breath. Sonya pulls her to her feet and hits the ropes but Rose explodes into a couple of clotheslines! And a HARD charging knee to the side of the head sends Deville to the floor! She bounces Sonya’s head off the announce table, then again in the steps! And then once more. Now she tosses her over the announce table! Pulls Deville up off the floor and throws her into the ring. Mandy demands she get up, hooks the arms, Sonya escapes, counters a high knee into a roll-up and gets the win!
Winner: Sonya Deville
Yeah, that about works. Told a good story of just how much these two hate each other, done pretty well from both sides there and ultimately Rose’s anger gets the better of her as Sonya just barely scrapes a win.
