At Money In The Bank, we got a major surprise when it came to the the trademark match. While Asuka winning was expected on the Women’s side of the match, no one expected Otis to actually win the Men’s side over names like AJ Styles & King Corbin. Despite this, the fan favorite now has a shot at Universal Champion Braun Strowman after climbing the ladder and winning. This was the first truly shocking moment in a while, but it has fans wondering if he will actually win a world championship.
Otis Could Lose The Briefcase Before Cashing In
While most winners of Money In The Bank have went on to cash in and become champion, and a few have failed to win their cash in matches, one man would lose his shot before he had the chance. This was Mr. Kennedy, who would lose the briefcase to Edge in 2008. WWE has not done this since that moment, but it is a possiblity we need to prepare for. With Otis embroiled in a feud with Dolph Ziggler, there is a very high chance that we will see Otis defend the briefcase against Ziggler at the coming Backlash PPV, and possibly losing his chance to the former two time world champion.
Using The Contract In A New Way
While up to this point, we have always seen the Money In The Bank contract be used to get a shot at the WWE, Universal or World Heavyweight Championships, WWE has a chance to take a new approach with Otis. With him being an established tag team star in Heavy Machinery alongside Tucker, they have a chance to elevate the Smackdown Tag Team Championships. Otis could negotiate to be able to use the contract to get Heavy Machinery a shot at The New Day, which is something Otis has expressed interest in doing this. During an interview with Digital Spy ahead of the match, he had the following to say. “If I get the briefcase, we’re challenging for the Tag Team titles. I don’t think there’s a rule of what titles to challenge for, so we’re going to challenge for the Tag Team titles, cash it in and that’s what’s going to happen… if I can get up that ladder. I’m a little scared of heights. And I hope that ladder’s going to be sturdy enough to carry my weight.”
Will Otis stay true to his word and his tag team partner, or will the allure of being a world champion cloud his judgement and cause a rift in Heavy Machinery? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
