It’s that time again, y’all! WWE Friday Night SmackDown is on once more tonight! Just like always here at the Overtimer, below you will be able to see all of the results of the show as they come, plus links to in-depth recaps! Watch this space!
Segment 1: In the opening segment, we see Elias being carted onto a stretcher in a road. There’s been a hit-and-run and evidence that it’s a drunk driving accident. The license in the car suggests it’s Jeff Hardy. They find Jeff laid out, smelling of booze and they arrest him. This then results in a battle royal being held to fill the gap left in the IC title tournament from this incident.
Segment 2: Sheamus wins the battle royal, last eliminating Jey Uso to earn a match against Daniel Bryan later tonight. The winner of this match will face AJ Styles for the Intercontinental title next week.
Segment 3: Lacey Evans and Sonya Deville face off. The match ends in a double count out when they brawl around on the floor. Afterwards Lacey challenges her to come back into the ring but Deville says she’ll fight her on her own terms and walks off.
Segment 4: A Moment Of Bliss with the New Day takes an unexpected turn when Sasha Banks and Bayley come to the ring and call out Alexa and Nikki, saying they were the ones who truly put the Women’s tag titles on the map and they’re the reason the titles even exist at all, and that they could win them back any time they wanted. Bayley then volunteers Sasha Banks for a match with Alexa Bliss right there and then, even though she wasn’t dressed to compete. Alexa accepts.
Segment 5: Sasha Banks took on Alexa Bliss in a pair of tennis shoes. Impressively, Sasha got the win all the same with Bayley’s help.
Segment 6: Shorty G and Cesaro go out in a very technically strong but criminally short match. Shorty G gets the better of a pinning combination exchange and gets the win! Otis and Mandy Rose have a day together at the pool and Mandy has a sensual dream sequence about him.
Segment 7: In the main event, Daniel Bryan and Sheamus square off. As expected it’s a really good, physical match. At the end, Jeff Hardy shambles out to distract Sheamus, allowing Bryan to hit the Buisaku Knee and get the win. Hardy then attacked Sheamus and left him laying as the show went off the air.
