The Forgotten Sons might soon live up to their name. Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler & Jaxson Ryker were seeming to get a major push on Smackdown Live, feuding with Smackdown Tag Team Champions The New Day. This included a great showing in the Fatal Four Way tag team match at Money In The Bank, and hype packages on Smackdown. However, they’ve seemingly vanished. All it took was one tweet from Ryker to sink this ship.
Jaxson Ryker Became Public Enemy #1 Backstage
The world is not in a good place right now. We’re still involved in a global pandemic, and the United States and other countries are rioting against police brutality. Jaxson Ryker took to Twitter to praise a man who has done little to help with either of these situations, something which many viewed as a blatant display of ignorance and hatred. He even had his own tag team partners distance themselves from him as much as they could. Reports from WWE talent indicate that he was well liked and respected before this, but the mood shifted very quickly.
Forgotten Sons Feud With New Day Dropped
As quick as it started, the feud with The New Day has seemingly been dropped. New Day are now involved with Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro, known as The Artists Collective. We likely would have seen New Day defend at Backlash against Forgotten Sons, but instead they were left off the card with this new feud not yet ready for the title match. Given the racist comments that also came to light from Ryker, it is no shock there was no interest from The New Day to keep the feud going.
Should Blake & Cutler Go On Without Ryker?
When it comes to this team, the in-ring work has always been done by Wesley Blake & Steve Cutler, with Ryker rarely stepping into the ring, and simply playing an enforcer role. He has not wrestled since their call up, and likely wouldn’t have gotten too involved in the future either.
Due to his lack of importance to the team, and him being the source of all the heat on them, it could be time for them to move away from being a trio and focus on being a tag team. Nothing much will change about their gimmick, matches will be the same, they just won’t be carrying around what many view as dead weight.
Do you think this is the end of The Forgotten Sons? Will Steve Cutler & Wesley Blake bounce back from this? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
