Billy Gunn Files New Trademarks For His Sons

Ah trademarks, the easiest way to drum up intense speculation in wrestling. We’ve seen many reports of wrestling filing for trademarks, as once filed, they are public information. From Cody trying to get as many expired WCW PPV names as possible, FTR getting whatever trace of their WWE run they could, or Charlotte Flair & Andrade securing barginning chips in names for a potential run outside WWE. Now it’s wrestling veteran Billy Gunn playing this game, as a way to hopefully boost both his sons into the stacked AEW tag team division. While AEW fans are now familiar with Billy Gunns son Austin, who teams with his father as The Gunn Club, we might be introduced to Colton Gunn next.

Sons Of A Gunn & Colton Gunn Are The New Trademarks From Billy Gunn

Colton is his eldest son, but unlike Austin has zero recorded wrestling matches. He would almost certainly need to go through training, but the Nightmare Factory lead by Q.T Marshall, and the guidence of men like Dustin Rhodes, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and DDP? He should have no problem, especially if he has the natural ability of his father. He’s 29 years old, so still has plenty of time ahead of him.

Sons Of A Gunn is another pretty obvious trademark, as it could only mean Austin & Colton coming together as a tag team. While all three could wrestle as a trio as The Gunn Club, it doesn’t hurt to have a tag team name set aside for his sons. Being in a tag team with his more experienced brother, and near legendary father would help Colton to adapt and work out the kinks, while building the name of the team up sooner.

A show like AEW Dark will be perfect for this team, especially if Colton shows instant potential and can be put to TV right away. This could just be basic preparations for Gunn, helping to ensure the family legacy will continue. Having Austin in AEW is a great start, but if he has both sons to fill his boots, the Gunn legacy will be strong.

Do you think Colton Gunn will show as much potential as his brother? Will Sons Of A Gunn become more than just a trademark in the coming years? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
