AEW Dark rolls on. Sonny Kiss now comes in for his first singles match in a little while and it’s a solid test for him as he takes on the much respected veteran Christopher Daniels!
Sonny Kiss vs. Christopher Daniels
Lock-up, Daniels with a side headlock. Backs Sonny into the ropes, forces a break but Daniels wrenches that arm. Shoots him to the ropes, scoop slam for a 1 count! Arm wringer now. Up into a wristlock. Kiss rolls through, kip up, back flip and pushes the arm away with his foot! Lucha style double spring arm drag, casadora, arm drag and into the splits! Arm wringer cinched in on Daniels now! Chris fights his way up, shoots him to the ropes, Kiss with a shoulder block, handspring flip, big arm drag and keeping control of that arm. Daniels whips him to the corner, Sonny floats over, another arm drag into an arm wringer and Daniels is yelling in frustration! Fights his way up, exchange of forearms, Sonny wins out and covers for 1.
Big arm drag again and Daniels yells “Damn it!” That cracked me up. Sonny whips him to a corner, several handsprings into a smack to the face! Out of the corner, Daniels ducks a clothesline, Exploder Suplex sends Kiss flying! Pulls him to his feet, power whip to the buckles! And now a power whip to the opposite side! A third power whip, Kiss rebounds into a back body drop! Knees to the back. Pulls Kiss up, snap suplex! 2 count off that one. Chris arguing with Aubrey Edwards off of that one. Pulls Sonny up, Kiss fights back with forearms! Backs him to the ropes, whips him, Daniels blocks a back body drop with a kick, STO and then a slick transition into a Crossface! Kiss kicks his legs over to the rope for the break and Daniels continues to be frustrated.
Kiss fighting back, big forearm, Daniels responds with one of his own and it drops him! Daniels stomps Kiss into the corner, stands on his throat! Aubrey pulls him off, Daniels is yelling in her face! He is really salty this match, kinda interesting. Sonny with a series of forearms, running elbow strop, Dropsault and a rana! Sweeps the leg, out to the apron, Pullover Splits-style Legdrop for a nearfall! Body slam, a little twerk into a Standing Moonsault for a close nearfall! Discus Clothesline, Daniels ducks it and plants him for a Uranage! Staggers down to a knee. Wants to go up top but Sonny grabs the ankle, cradle for a close nearfall! Kiss with a couple of kicks gets him down to the mat, Kiss going to the middle rope and wants the Splitting Leg Drop but Daniels rolls out of position. Instead a Diving Rana, exchange of 2 counts on a series of reversals! Hook Kick from Kiss and Daniels falls facefirst to the mat! Kiss wants a pump kick, Daniels blocks it and forces him to back flip – hooks the arms and hoists him up for the Angel’s Wings!
Winner: Christopher Daniels
The name of the game in this match seemed to be to prove that Sonny Kiss can be tough when he needs to be and this was achieved pretty well, Daniels gave him a lot in spite of the loss.
