AEW Dark continues. Out come Brandon Cutler and Peter Avalon for another vein attempt at teaming together. This time Peter interrupts the die roll to ask to do it himself and Cutler gives him a chance. Of course Peter rears back to try and toss it but Cutler was ready for that and he rips it away from him. This time around the twosome face off against the veteran members of SCU, in Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian. The original incarnation in other words, once known as Bad Influence.
Brandon Cutler & Peter Avalon vs. SCU (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian)
Avalon starts with Frankie, Peter immediately attacks Daniels. This starts an argument, he turns around to get shoved to the mat by Kazarian. This stops Peter cold for a moment. He scrambles up but eats a few deep arm drags. Avalon reverses a whip, arm drag back, Kaz does the same, blocks Peter’s next attempt and stacks him up for a 2 count. Avalon charges at Daniels again but eats shots and gets ping ponged back and forth between the two of them. Kazarian with an arm drag into a wristlock. Daniels tags in, Avalon escapes Kaz and tags in Cutler. Cutler and Daniels lock up, Chris takes over with a top wristlock. Cutler flips through and reverses.
Daniels with a single leg, criss-cross, Cutler surprises him by going to the apron instead, Springboard Elbow for a 2 count! Daniels fights back, big dropkick, Kazarian tags in, they each clobber him, Avalon comes in but gets a couple of double teams as well ending with Daniels nailing an STO on him! Kazarian with a Gutwrench Suplex on Cutler for a 2 count! Tag to Daniels, charging elbow drop, cover for 2. Hoists him up for a back suplex but Cutler escapes behind him, takes him to his corner, it takes a couple of tries but Avalon eventually finally gets a cheap shot on Daniels. Tag to Avalon, he lands a standing dropkick for a 2 count!
Mounted punches. Brandon Cutler tags in, Daniels chops him until Cutler whips him, kick to the gut, misses a roundhouse but the enziguri nailed on the second attempt, Cutler with a bottom rope springboard splash for a nearfall! Daniels slips outside, Leva goes up to him, Cutler gets in between and convinces her to back off from cheating but this allows Avalon to cheap shot Daniels and drag him into the ring .Avalon tags in, they want a double team but they can’t agree on what to do and start shoving each other. Daniels charges in but they do get him with a double kick, Avalon grabs as Cutler tries a clothesline but Daniels ducks and Cutler takes out his partner, Daniels with the tag to Kazarian! He runs wild, they can’t touch him as he nails Avalon with a knee lift, Guillotine Legdrop on Cutler, flips Avalon onto his face for a nearfall!
Peter fights back though, hits a TKO on Kazarian, tag to Cutler, Springboard Elbow Drop for a 2 count! Avalon tags in, but he gets sidestepped into the corner, Daniels tags in, double footstomp to Avalon, knocks Cutler off the apron, Kazarian forces Avalon into the ring and hits a Cutter on the way down, Cutler has to break up the pin. He tries to fight SCU alone but gets taken down with a Powerbomb/Neckbreaker combo. Avalon attacks Daniels form behind, roll-up for 2 but Kazarian stops him with a chop and they nail Celebrity Rehab for the win.
Winners: SCU
It’s pretty cool that Daniels and Kazarian have a specific tag finish just for them. Celebrity Rehab is what they used before SCU was even a thing. Cutler and Avalon are both clearly strong hands too by the by but I’ve gotta say, they are really spinning their wheels, clearly not wanting to pay this feud off until fans come back and I’m honestly starting to feel it.
