WWE SmackDown resumes with Sheamus in the bathroom, trying to wash off his face and gargle some mouthwash because evidently he swallowed some of the urine that just got thrown into his face. The doctor interrupts this to let Sheamus know that Jeff Hardy’s test just came back negative. Sheamus is stunned and all the more furious that he just drank pee for nothing. Now the New Day come out and they kneel in the center of the ring to raise the Black Power fists. They’re facing off against Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura tonight.
WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro (Non-title)
Kofi and Cesaro start, Kingston with a trip and a quick standing splash for a 1 count. Criss-cross spot but on a leap frog, Cesaro catches Kofi out of the air for a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker! Shinsuke tags in and stomps him into the corner, Bad Vibes ensue. He stalks and charges but Kofi surprises him with a double footstomp to the chest for a 2 count! Clothesline sends him to the floor, Big E tags in! Sends Kofi over the top rope and he wipes out Shinsuke, but Cesaro is out there with a big boot, E catches Cesaro with a clothesline! He gets up onto the apron but Nakamura hot shots him to send him to the floor, Cesaro with a charging uppercut! Commercial break.
We come back to see Kofi making a comeback, getting a few clotheslines and a Boom Drop, SOS nailed but Cesaro breaks up the pin! Big E comes into the ring, Cactus Clothesline, they both fall to the floor! Kofi with a boot up off a charge, goes up top, Shinsuke pursues him to the top and wants a superplex but Kofi batters him, headbutt sends him to the mat. Comes off with a crossbody but Shinsuke leaps up for a high knee to the gut and turns this into an inside cradle for the victory!
Winners: Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro
Hey, that’s pretty neat. A victory at an unexpected portion of the match with a move that’s definitively not a finisher, yet one that does perfectly suit both Shinsuke and Kofi. And it’s a real win, yet one that I feel protects the champs in this non-title loss pretty well.
