AEW Dark continues. We see QT Marshall backstage raving about how Dustin and Brandi are gonna love the shirt he’s got in his hands. Dustin asks about tonight’s match when he comes up and QT explains that it’s actually not a tag match tonight – Marshall instead has a singles match. QT talks about how Allie explained to him that Dustin’s a legend and doesn’t have to wrestle every week. Dustin talks about how he already painted himself up for his match and they’re undefeated as a tag team. QT just kinda blows that off and says that Allie also made the two of them t-shirts. He hands it over to them and it’s the same regular Natural Nightmares shirt except with a big graphic of QT in the middle and much smaller graphics of Dustin and Brandi on either side of him, barely coming up to his hips. Brandi asks “Who the f**k is this for?!” and Dustin utters “What the hell, man?” QT says she worked really hard on them and walks off talking about how he’ll see them out there. Now we see the Butcher and the Blade taking on Pineapple Pete and Anthony Catena.
The Butcher & The Blade vs. Pineapple Pete & Anthony Catena
Butcher and Pete start out. Pineapple with some shadow boxing. Charges, Butcher drives him right into the corner and face washes him repeatedly. Kick to the gut, shoulder drives. Grinds his face into the top rope as he drags him over the top rope, tag to Blade who grinds him into the corner. Butcher chokes him as Blade distracts the ref, Catena is furious about it. Blade chops Pete as Butcher tags in and gives him a few chops of his own. Quick tags and isolation, stereo headbutts over and over! Blade whips him to a neutral corner, Pete floats over, wind up and a big punch to the mouth of Blade but he’s shaking it off.
Pete with some Karate Kid style posing and Crane Kick, Blade blocks it and nails a Fisherman Buster! And a second one, Catena finally makes the tag! Anthony charges, Blade cuts him off, takes him down, kick to the chest. Forearm to the face, Catena shoots him off, Blade blocks a shot and hits a Stunner, tag to Butcher who decimates him with a lariat! Hoists him up for a Running Powerslam! Pete has to break up the pin. Blade with a huge punch to Pete, running boot, avalanche splash from Butcher! Full Death to Catena and there’s the match!
Winners: The Butcher & The Blade
Little tune-up match. It’s gonna be a unique treat to see them go up against FTR in the latter’s much-hyped AEW debut match. It will be by far the most oldschool tag match in Dynamite history and probably the most oldschool match in AEW’s history as well.
