With Main Event being the lowest show in WWE, it is rare you can see two former United States Champions face off. Even rarer is one not Shelton Benjamin. This week, we see Andrade face Ricochet. Andrade had taken a heavy loss at Backlash to Apollo Crews, and now finds himself at the bottom. Can he get himself on the right track by beating Ricochet?
Ricochet Takes A Risk
Andrade would start the match aggressively, trapping Ricochet in a headlock before viciously attacking the arm. Ricochet would have to play Andrades game, and grapple with him, and failing to top Andrade in this style. However, once he could get moving, things would improve for him. He’d flip and flop around Andrade before nailing a dropkick.
This sent Andrade to the corner, so Ricochet went to the opposite side of the ring to rush in. He’d be sent over the top rope, but a shoulder to Andrade would give him space to fly. Andrade would dodge and Ricochet would come down hard on his leg, appearing to have hurt the left knee. Ricochet would slip outside, but Zelina Vega would urge Andrade to go for the knee, which he did.
Andrade Targets The Leg
Back in the ring, Andrade would apply a single leg boston crab and focus on this injured leg. Ricochet would fight back to his feet, and drop his opponent with a kick using his good leg, but couldn’t follow up. Some strikes would be exchanged, but a kick to the hurt leg dropped Ricochet easy. Ricochet is crafty, put without being able to fly, Andrade remained in steady control. He’d create space and go for his rolling dropkick, only to be stopped and booted in the face. Another single leg crab would be applied, but Ricochet would crawl to the bottom rope. The attack would just get ruthless at this point, but he’d barely dodge the double knees from Andrade and have one last chance at a comeback.
Ricochet Is Still In This
He’d throw rights and lefts, before being pushed into the corner. A kick with the right leg would give space, and he’d be able to hit a hurricarana from the middle rope. Fighting through the pain, Ricochet would go for the standing shooting star press getting a nearfall. He’d go for some type of ripcord attack, but Andrade kicked him in the knee as he was turned. He’d try for the Kick-Back after regaining control, but the knee would give out. Andrade would hit the Hammerlock DDT for the win.
This was a great match from two of the best on Monday Night RAW, and hopefully a rematch on the bigger stage isn’t far off. Do you think Andrade should be on Main Event? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
