For a while, there was one wrestling podcast that was at the top of everyones list of favorites. This was the E&C Pod Of Awesomeness, hosted by Edge & Christian. They would review the recent shows, talk about their lives, and interview guests like anyone else with a podcast. However, what put this one above the rest is their distinct style of humor and level of combined experience. However, when Edge was beginning to train to get back in the ring, the show stopped. Christian claimed he was going to keep going without Edge, but there have been no new episodes since then. The show is dead, and Edge has now given the reason.
It Wasn’t Fun For Edge
When asked by a fan in an instagram comment “What are the chances of the pod coming back?” Edge would let them know that shutting down the podcast was his own idea. “It was not that much fun” was what he had to say on the topic. While this might intially seem surprising, having to talk to Christian for over an hour each week would suck the fun out of anything.
However, a more serious reason comes in Edge’s constant want to get back into the ring. While Christian seems to have settled more into retirement, Edge was always eager to get back to what he knew best. He was able to break into acting, and stayed involved in the wrestling industry, but he wanted to get back into the ring. Now imagine having that in the back of your head as you stick back and talk about others in the ring, asking them about their careers. It would burn anyone up. So while this was one of the more fun wrestling podcasts around, it’s not shocking he’d want to get out of that game.
Edge Is Now Refocused On His In-Ring Career
While he’s back on the shelf due to an injury suffered during his Backlash match with Randy Orton, Edge will be back. Most fans have been loving his return run, and are eagerly awaiting his next match. This would solve the potential issue involved with the podcast, but it also raises another. While you can run a podcast and wrestle at the same time, podcasts are a ton of work.
At the end of the day, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see the E&C Pod Of Awesomeness make a proper return, but when it fell, you can be assured eight more podcasts took it’s place. No one will fill their humour niche, but at the end of the day, everyone has moved on. It’s just nice to know the reason behind the sudden cancellation, and that is wasn’t simply due to Edge wanting to get back into the ring.
