As if losing his job during a pandemic wasn’t bad enough, Rusev is now getting more grief from COVID-19, as he has tested positive for the deadly virus. This news was announced by Rusev himself during a live stream. Since getting released from WWE, Rusev has been staying home, likely hoping to return to work come July 18th when his contract is officially done. However, he was still caught by it.
Lana Had Previously Stated Both Her Parents Had The Virus
While Rusev did the smart thing and stayed home, his wife Lana was not doing the same. After publically stating both her parents had the virus, she’d be seen posting images of herself partying on a yacht with Liv Morgan, Mandy Rose, and Sonya Deville. None were wearing masks. Since then, only Liv Morgan has appeared on TV, the others vanishing from their RAW & Smackdown. This makes it very likely that it was Lana who got Rusev infected. Social distancing only works if everyone involved plays it safe, which was not the case here.
We Can Safely Say Rusev Will Not Be At Slammiversery
On July 18th, Impact Wrestling brings one of their biggest shows ever to us. With the huge batch of released WWE stars all being free to do as they wish on that date, it has created a ton of hype. Names like Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and Eric Young have already been confirmed, with EC3 and Bully Ray highly likely. In the promotion for the show, a Bulgarian flag would be shown, teasing a Rusev debut. This is now impossible, and if he was to debut for Impact Wrestling, he’ll need to wait until he’s all cleared to go.
We wish Rusev, and everyone else in the world effected by this horrible virus a speedy recovery. Stay home if you feel unwell, wear a mask if you can’t maintain social distancing, and just make smart choices for the good of mankind. We are all in this together.
Do you think Rusev would have been at Slammiversary? Would he have been the fourth man in the main event? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
