It’s not often that we get to see Titus O’Neil lace up his boots these days, as he mainly focuses on behind the scenes PR work. However, at his core he still a wrestler, and this week on Main Event he clashes with Akira Tozawa, who since Backlash has become a ninja with a posse. It’s best to not think too much about this. Tozawa was once part of Titus Worldwide, with Titus guiding him to his only reign as Cruiserweight Champion, giving this one some history. Would size and power top speed and experience?
A Solid Comedy Rich Match
After some ninja poses from Tozawa, O’Neil would unsuccessfully try to grab him, only for Tozawa to slip away for some quick strikes to the leg. Once he finally got his hands on Tozawa, he’d throw him in the corner and a huge chop the stomach following. He’d consider chokeslamming Tozawa to the outside, but the posse of ninjas stopped him. Instead he’d take Tozawa back to the corner yell “Ninja please” and deliver another big chop.
He’d throw Tozawa across the ring with ease, and Tozawa would roll to the outside to regroup with his fellow ninjas. After a quick huddle, Tozawa would be hidden amongst them with a mask. O’Neil decided to just take them all out however, as Tozawa slipped into the ring, and got Titus with a running dropkick as he climbed back in.
Titus O’Neil Gets The Win
Now with the big man on his back, he’d just have to keep him there, and crafty kicks would allow this. A senton splash would allow a two count, before he’d trap O’Neil on the mat with a submission, as MVP tries to explain ninja lore to Tom Phillips using Naruto as a base. Eventually, O’Neil would use his power to escape the sleeper hold, before dropping Tozawa with a right hand. One Clash Of The Titus later, and O’Neil gets the win.
This was a fun comedy match with the big man little man dynamic in the ring. Not much great action, but MVP rambling about Naruto on commentary makes it all worth it. It was nice to see Titus back in action, as while he’s limited in the ring, he plays the big man role well enough. Are you happy to see him back?
