The first of many qualifying matches for the upcoming ladder match at NXT Takeover 30 comes tonight on NXT. We have two former NXT North American Champions in this one, those being Roderick Strong & Johnny Gargano. However, a hungry Bronson Reed might be enough to knock both of them, as he enters the biggest match of his life. Only one man will go to Takeover to potentially be our next North American Champion, who will it be?

Bronson Reed Uses His Power To Take Control Early

Things would start off with Reed trying to prove himself. He’d take out Gargano, then Strong and control the ring. Strong & Gargano would form a union, and bicker on the outside about who will go face Reed, before Strong would just be pulled in.

Gargano came to attack from behind, but a hurricanrana would be stopped in its tracks. However, they truly would work together to stop Reed, and he worked briefly until Gargano would be thrown into Strong.

Two On One Makes This An Even Fight

Coming back from commercial break, this wouldn’t have happened yet, as both Gargano & Strong would be brutalized by Reed, before being dropped by a kick from Strong. Noticing this chance, Strong would swarm him, with Gargano getting in too, as they’d take turns pummeling him.

Eventually they’d launch chops, but Reed would get back into it before falling to the two on one alliance. He’d run down both men, but a leg lariat would send him to a knee, and then Strong tried for a backbreaker and then a sunset flip. However, Gargano would grab a flailing Strong, and catapult him into a low blow on Reed.

Johnny Gargano & Roderick Strong’s Alliance Is Short Lived

The pace would pick up as Gargano & Strong got moving. A slingshot spear from Gargano would be followed with a dive onto Reed, but he’d be caught in a backbreaker coming back in. Reed wouldn’t stay down though, and come back in to take out both men again before charging into the corner to sandwich them.

They’d work again to take Reed out, with Gargano helping Strong to hit the olympic slam, before throwing him out of the ring to try for the win. Reed would get trapped in the ropes, and Gargano would look to pepper him with superkicks, before Strong would catch him with a backbreaker. They’d clash, heading to the outside and Reed would dive onto both men through the ropes as we enter another commercial break.

    Something Had To Give

Coming back, all men would be tired as they threw strikes in the ring with Reed standing tall. This match has taken a toll on them all, and one big move could end it. Strong & Gargano haven’t been able to stop Reed, and he’d hit a double Samoan Drop, but only get a two count.

With Gargano out, he’d put Strong on the top rope, but he wouldn’t complete the move. Instead, he’d let Gargano get up, and grab him in an Electric Chair hold. They’d go for a Doomsday Device, but Gargano countered into a reverse rana to take out Reed! A running knee would take out Gargano as he went for the pin, but he ate a superkick.

Bronson Reed Is Going To Takeover!

Strong & Gargano would work together to powerbomb Reed onto the outside, taking him out of the equation in what has become an epic triple threat match. A running knee followed by planting Gargano in the middle of the ring, before he’d go for the tiger bomb, but Gargano would counter out. Strong would be hit with the One Final Beat DDT, taking Strong out. However, Reed would come off the top rope with a splash and get the pinfall!

This match was the best showing yet for Reed, standing alongside two of the best wrestlers on the brand and looking just as good as them. A true breakout moment for a deserving man. This ladder match very well could show us the future of NXT. Should Gargano or Strong have won this match? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
