Three weeks ago, Oney Lorcan got his ass kicked by Timothy Thatcher. He’d be tapped out with the Fujiwara Armbar, and Thatcher would hold it for a bit longer, aiming to injure. This worked, and it threw Lorcan off his game for weeks. But it also pissed him off, and now Lorcan gets another chance at Thatcher. Could this time go differently for Lorcan, or would it be another class on Thatch-As-Thatch-Can wrestling?
Another Hard Hitting Affair From These Two
To no one’s surprise, this match didn’t take long after the bell to get started. Thatcher would try to get control of the arm out of the gate, and Lorcan would be manipulated into chain wrestling early. This is not his world, and he’d be outmatched. Despite being trained by Lance Storm, he can’t outwrestle Thatcher. We saw this in their last match.
Grappling would end up with Thatcher in control, and things would go to strikes. Lorcan would light him up with heavy chops, but then be thrown across the ring with a Belly to Belly suplex. Thatcher would lock in a rear chinlock, and just all around punish Lorcan on the mat. The mat is his domain, and Lorcan would need to get to his feet to get control.
Lorcan however would go the leg on the ground, but nearly get trapped in the armbar again. Thatcher would start launching some strikes of his own, heavy chops and knees, throwing his weight into Lorcan. Lorcan would push Thatcher off when he tried another Belly To Belly Suplex, and hit a series of running uppercuts to send Thatcher out of the ring. Going to the outside, Lorcan would shove Thatcher into the ring post, potentially taking an arm out of the equation as we go to a commercial break.
Oney Lorcan Fights Harder Than Ever
Back from the break and back into the ring, Thatcher has regained control despite having one good arm. The right arm was good, and he’d pummel Lorcan with it. However, Lorcan would hit a diving uppercut off the middle rope, and tried for the Half & Half Suplex, but a standing switch would get Thatcher control.
Looking for the double wrist lock, Lorcan would nearly get a submission, but Thatcher escaped. Lorcan would instead grab a single leg crab, a move Thatcher used to abuse students, and a move made famous by Lance Storm. Transitioning, Lorcan would grab a Fujiwara Armbar on the hurt left arm, but a Fish Hook to the mount would break the hold. A Half & Half Suplex would get a nearfall, and it was a weak kickout.
Another Battle In A Brewing War
Lorcan would look for the double wrist lock again, targeting the left arm. Thatcher would fight out, and manage to slip Lorcan onto the mat and steal a quick pinfall.
This almost mimics the finish of the first encounter of Matt Riddle & Timothy Thatcher, a victory Thatcher called weak. This led to the first ever Cage Fight in NXT, and add in a handful of tights, and this is not the end of this war. Will we see the Cage Fight come to the NXT Takeover 30 with Thatcher & Lorcan?
