A heel turn can really make or break a wrestler. If a wrestler isn’t doing well and fans are hating on a wrestler, by having them turn heel. It can really go the way the fans want. This usually makes the fans hate the wrestler more and therefore making it just feel right to hate them. Then this can sometimes turn back into fans liking the wrestler once more. Let’s look at four wrestlers who would benefit from a heel turn.
1. Roman Reigns
Let’s start off with the obvious one, as a lot of people hated Roman Reigns for a long time. It feels like when he finally gets a push again, it will happen again. putting him on his way to the top most likely will be hated but in a good way. This worked for his cousin, the Rock, back in the day. So there’s no saying why it can’t work for Roman Reigns in the future.
2. Ricochet
Even though Ricochet’s move set doesn’t really scream heel. With his high flying moves getting massive reactions. This is for more of a story thing as it seems like as soon as Ricochet gets an inch of a push, he gets thrown a mile back. Ricochet is a great performer, if he could change his move set up a bit, maybe do some fake high flyer moves to annoy people, then he could become a top heel.
3. Kenny Omega
There has been a massive argument in the wrestling community of whether Kenny Omega has lost “it” since joining AEW. Even though, personally, I don’t think this is true. Kenny Omega could benefit massively from a heel turn. This is due to the fact that everyone thought Hangman was going to be the one to turn but Kenny being the one could be the better choice. There are also teases of this actually happening, so only time will tell if it does.
4. Hikaru Shida
This one is out of the blue because her lack of feuds does feel more like AEW’s fault. The reason for this is due to the fact the weapon of choice is a kendo stick and that really feels like a heel weapon. If she turned fully heel, she can use that as a very powerful heel gimmick to make fans hate her. There’s also a point, a heel champion being slightly better to watch as it’s always good watching the baby face trying to get the championship from the heel.
