WWE Raw Preview here with an interesting thought about who needs a storyline when a random match will suffice for Raw?
That’s basically the thinking this week as they continue to build for Drew McIntyre’s WWE Championship match against Randy Orton at SummerSlam.
The funny thing is, it’s not a good idea as there’s really no where for Orton and McIntyre to go promo wise after they hit it out of the park last week.
And with Kevin Owens’ ability and willingness to challenge anyone, this works out perfectly.
Thanks to Flair
In what we assume was a recruiting pitch of some sort, Ric Flair offered Owens some advice about being more like Orton.
He added that as touching as Owens interjecting himself in Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan’s affair was, he should’ve stayed out of it.
Owens took exception to that as he previously lived by that rule and lost friends due to his stance, and then told Flair to inform Orton Owens wanted to face him this week.
That twist caught Flair offguard, though he looked more like he thought Owens was kidding.
Still, the match was set for tonight and Kevin Owens is now in the Apex Predator’s sights.
This isn’t going to end well for Owens.
Add another notch
Everything points to Owens losing since having Orton lose would undermine the buildup for SummerSlam.
But, and this is a big but, WWE Raw Review thinks that Owens will live to fight another day, which we suspect will be next week.
It’s just a hunch, but we’re pretty sure Owens will avoid the punt and jump/attack Orton next week, setting up their rivalry for after SummerSlam.
While this seems most likely, we would’ve preferred to see Orton and McIntyre go for a couple of months, but after last week’s promos, that’s hard to see how that’d happen.
Of course, that’s still a possibility and Owens may just be fodder for the next week or two to help build Orton up to a near unstoppable opponent.
One thing we’re sure of it tonight’s match should be a good one as Orton rarely has a bad match and Owens clicks well with him so he should be o top of his game, too.
However it ends, don’t be surprised if McIntyre pays Orton back with a Claymore to possible cost him the match.
It makes sense and feels like the right direction to up the ante between the two Orton and McIntyre.
How do you think this will play out?
