WWE Raw Preview knows there’s little doubt Retribution will appear and attack WWE Raw once more, and it’s expected after they took over Smackdown.
The question is where and when.
Going after the talent
We may see them attack actual WWE talent tonight instead of the enhancement talent like they did on WWE Smackdown.
The problem here is who to select for the beating, and who will come together?
At the moment, the WWE doesn’t have a lot of free bodies that aren’t tied up feuding with or coming off a feud with a faction, so that limits things considerably.
They can only run in and destroy things so often before fans tune them out, and judging by social media comments, many already have.
Of course, this doesn’t mean the WWE won’t come up with something, but they better soon or this experiment will be over with by SummerSlam.
Unless WWE creative (ie Vince McMahon) pulls the plug on them or changes them from being a riot-based group to an AEW Dark Order or Impact’s Aces & Eights.
We’re going to need some names behind Retribution as well as opposed to it to give it any relevance. As it stands, we doubt there’ll be anything more than another firebombing and a run in takeover.
The Monday Night Messiah?
One that seems off the wall but makes sense is Seth Rollins.
Yep, WWE Raw Preview wouldn’t be surprised to find the Monday Night Messiah to be behind Retribution.
If we look at them, they epitomize everything he’s touted. They’re seeking out the weak and trying to eliminate them. They feel held back and abandoned by the people that are supposed to support them.
Is it so out there to expect Rollins may turn his wrath on the WWE itself as the source of his problems.
Another is Tommaso Ciampa, and given his recent issues with the WWE on social media, it’d be logical that his public outcry was a work to set him up for this.
Vanessa Borne and Chelsea Green were recognized as part of the faction, but would either of them be the leader?
Retribution fallout
While we’re twisting in the wind trying to figure out who’s involved and if Retribution will continue, there are other issues with this storyline.
There have been reports that the WWE wanted to reboot the Nation of Domination with MVP, hence why Ron Simmons and Mark Henry were backstage the last couple of weeks.
While that plan was reportedly nixed due to recent real world developments, Retribution could be going in a different direction, and that doesn’t look too good at the moment.
Given how many people have been affected by the riots and the apparent societal tone deafness of the WWE Creative, this could be their last night to do something to change the tide.
While we have little doubts the attacks will continue as they have the last week, we hope there’s a change for the better tonight. But we’ll have to wait and see.
Who do you think is going to be named their leader, and will Retribution continue or be disbanded?
