This past Wednesday on WWE NXT, we would see the return of Patrick Clark, better known as The Velveteen Dream. Many fans had some questions after this, as there were some very public accusations about him being a child predator during the #SpeakingOut movement, but that wasn’t why he was pulled from TV.
Dream was in a car accident on June 26th, and was hospitalized following the accident. It’s unclear what injuries he suffered, but it kept him out of action for over a month. However, the accusations had to be addressed, and Triple H has done exactly that.
There Was Nothing There
While speaking with CBS Sports, Triple H would let everyone know what happened with Velveteen Dream’s accusations. They were looked into by WWE, and nothing was found.
“You know, in this day today, accusations are made and you take them all very seriously. You look into them the best you can, and you find out what is there and what isn’t. In this situation, Clark was also involved in a car accident. That’s what took him off TV. In the moment, all this other stuff happens and you look into it and you find that there is a situation that people bring to everyone’s attention, you look into it and find that it is what it is and there’s nothing there. Everything that we have done, we are comfortable with him continuing to do what he does and everything else.”
Velveteen Dream Got Right Back Into The Fray
On the next episode of NXT, we will finally see Velveteen Dream face Finn Balor. The winner will get to a ladder match at NXT Takeover XXX to crown a new North American Champion. Dream also beat down KUSHIDA following the triple threat match last week, setting up a potential feud there as well. He didn’t show any rust after being out with injury, and his match with Balor next week should be a classic.
Dream was in the initial NXT North American Championship ladder match, and is a former champion. Him moving on to Takeover is likely, but Balor won’t make it easy.
