WWE Smackdown Results and Recap returned from commercial to find Bayley and Sasha Banks were in the ring to plenty of boos from the enhancement talent.
Oh, and there’s more security around the ring now.
Bayley claimed Retribution wanted to hear what the Role Models had to say, and people should listen.
Banks went on about how she now has to defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Asuka, and she and Bayley have to also defend their tag team championships.
She then handed it off to Bayley.
Bayley called out Stephanie McMahon for trying to rain on their parade, then claimed not even a McMahon could hold them down.
Bayley also referred to her future opponent at SummerSlam as “the lucky idiot” so that’s going to come back to bite her.
Bayley’s intent that they’ll do everyone’s job, then pulled out a script and read the rules for the battle royal, and introduce the Iiconics. Tegan Nox, Shotzi Blackheart.
Banks introduced Lacey Evans, and Bayley continued to mock how she beat everyone so far.
Next was Asuka, which Bayley tried to claim she was given the wrong list.
Asuka attacked both Banks and Bayley, chasing them from the ring as the rest of the combatants arrived.
Triple Brand Battle Royal
The battle royal started as we’d expect — with plenty of chaos.
A play by play will be impossible, so bear with us.
The Iiconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) went right after the Riott Squad (Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan). Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan were on the apron when Riott took a shot meant for Morgan and hit the floor.
Nox eliminated Kay and Royce, who then grabbed Morgan (still on the apron) and pulled her to the floor face first. A brawl between the Riott Squad and Iiconics continued on the floor.
Dana Brooke Sent Nikki Cross through the middle rope, then kicked her to the floor, but Cross wasn’t eliminated.
Cross caught Brook in the apron and beat her down before she reentered.
Bianca Belair held on with one hand while Nox and Blackheart trying to unsuccessfully eliminate her before she fought her way back into the ring.
Cross leapt attacking Tamina, but Tamina caught her and eliminated her with a kick.
Tamina and Belair then faced off. Belair nailed Tamina with a few strikes before hitting her with a spear.
Beliar then picked her up from behind and tossed Tamina over the top rope.
Banks and Bayley were more than a little worried at ringside.
Naomi and Evans had been after each other from the beginning, but Evans hit with a Woman’s Right while Naomi was on the apron to eliminate her.
While Evans mocked Naomi, Blackheart hit her from behind and eliminated her.
Baszler locked in the Coquina clutch on Blackheart and lifted her over the ropes while in the hold.
Evans then pulled Blackheart off the apron, eliminating her.
Belair and Nox squared off, with Nox puling the rope down so Belair went over the top when she charged her.
Baszler, Nox, and Asuka were left, and after hitting them in opposite corners, Baszler lifted her over the top rope and Brooke pulled her to the floor, eliminating her.
A whole lotta pettiness going around, and it’s awesome.
Baszler and Asuka were in the ring resting, while Brooke took her time.
Brooke backflipped into a Coquina Clutch and was lifted over the rope before she broke free, but Asuka hit her with a hip attack to eliminate her.
Asuka and Baszler locked up, and Asuka was nearly eliminated, but she fought off Baszler, then Bayley and Banks on the apron.
Baszler kicked Asuka off, but she landed on Banks and Bayley, staying alive in the match.
Asuka and Baszler beat on each other at the ropes and Baszler locked in the Coquina Clutch again.
Asuka managed to drag her over the ropes to win a chance against Bayley and Banks at SummerSlam.
Aftermatch
After returning from commercial, WWE Smackdown Results and Recap found Banks and Bayley backstage and they weren’t happy, calling the results an outrage.
Banks gave Bayley a pep talk, but just when they were feeling better, Asuka attacked and leveled both of them before officials got between them.
Looks like we’re in for some more of the same.
