Without any opponents for the Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford), WWE Raw is holding a Triple Threat match to determine who they’ll face at Clash of Champions.
This has all the making of a convoluted mess due to all of the breakups that have been pushed on WWE Raw the last few weeks.
Still, this hodge podge collection of talent has the potential for a great match, assuming two teams can get along. We assume the hope is the hint of gold will help everyone get along.
This may be a bit much for any suspension of disbelief.
Break up’s been coming
We’ve been teased for months that Angel Garza and Andrade will break up. It’s a storyline that lost its luster a while back, resulting in Zelina Vega leaving them last week being a minor blip.
In fact, we’re more interested is seeing her in action than this team staying together anymore.
The problem here is Andrade and Garza could be an awesome team, but they had their chance for gold, and there are rumors that Vince McMahon has lost interest in Andrade.
Given that and their issues working together and Vega not there anymore, it’s doubtful they’ll work out their differences and bring it together.
In short, we expect them to implode in mid match, and this should spark their feud.
Of course, this could also be the surprise angle of the night. We just have to wait and see.
Another team in disharmony is Seth Rollins and Murphy.
Murphy has been the focus of Rollins’ anger for some of his own failures, though last week Murphy really stepped in it when he slammed the cage door in Rollins’ face.
In return, Rollins has been outright abusive and we’re expecting Murphy to break and attack him at some point in the near future.
It that’s not in the storyline and Murphy will continue his sycophantic ways, it’ll be a lost opportunity to create a new and refreshing angle to the Monday Night Messiah angle.
With their recent tensions, if/when they lose tonight, we expect Rollins to blame Murphy and, with any luck, Murphy to strike back for all the abuse he’s suffered.
This leaves us with the probable winner, and that’s Dominik Mysterio and Humberto Carrillo.
Carrillo comes and goes from WWE Raw programming, often times seemingly appearing when there’s no other option.
This hasn’t done him any good in his growth as fans miss him and he deserves better, but that can be said for half the WWE roster at some point.
This team up is being touted as Dominik following in his father’s footsteps, as Rey Mysterio’s first championship was the tag team championship with Edge.
While this seems like the likely winner, it feels off having two face teams square off at Clash of Champions for the Raw Tag Team Championship.
Honestly, we think Garza and Andrade would be better suited, but we’d also like to see their divorce happen so we can get onto their feud instead of having things drawn out further.
