WWE Raw Results found Asuka backstage where she was being interviewed about her match at Clash of Champions, and who was the greater threat to her championship: Mickie James or Zelina Vega.
Asuka was in the middle of responding when Billie Kay came in doing a carnival leader’s copy of Asuka.
Kay ran off a couple of possible opponents when Peyton Royce said she could offer a chance to her.
Kay added for either of them.
Asuka asked if they’re still friends. Kay said they are, but Royce seemed more distant from her friend.
Royce said nothing lasts forever, and Asuka said she’s ready for Royce tonight.
Raw Women’s Championship Number 1 Contender Match – Zelina Vega vs. Mickie James
The match started with James going after Vega, but Vega took her down with a couple of kicks, and Vega kept the pressure on.
James grabbed a fistful of hair and threw Vega down, then spun her around by said hair.
Vega jumped on James’ back with a sleeper hold, but James flipped her over her shoulder and hit with a running kick for a near pinfall
Vega countered a suplex attempt into a small package for a near pinfall.
Vega locked in an Octopus after coming off the ropes, but James managed to get to her feet and rammed Vega into the turnbuckle twice.
Vega sidestepped James’ strike then nailed her with a pair of kicks before James caught her next attempt and picked her up for a powerbomb.
A series of reverses and pin attempts followed, then Vega tied James up in an Octopus in the ropes before she attempted a tornado DDT.
James countered her attempt and his with a clothesline and a coupe of kicks before James hit with a face slam.
James headed to the top rope and hit with a seated senton, but Vega kicked out.
Vega countered James’ DDT attempt and hit with a backstabber for the pin.
Backstage, the Hurt Business was in the process of wiping the floor with the Retribution’s goons in leu of their match later tonight.
Bianca Belair is “EST of WWE”; 24/7 Championship Shenanigans
We returned to a Bianca Belair vignette called Strongest that showed her outworking one of the male wrestlers in the workout room.
She’s closed it out saying she’s the “EST of WWE.”
Shark hunt
It was followed by a beautiful beach scene where Akira Tozawa was searching for R-Truth and the 24/7 Championship in the ocean.
Truth then arrived on a path, but Tozawa and the ninja referee were in the water.
Truth spotted a shark, and called out “Sharknado” dropped his championship belt and ran.
He then returned with flippers, goggles, and a snorkel to find his “baby.”
The shark returned, prompting a “Sharknado 2” cry, and he found his belt and a shredded ninja outfit.
Truth thought it was Tozawa, but it’s was probably the referee ninja.
