G1 Climax 30 Night 14 saw what was practically an elimination match between former two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Juice Robison and Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member Sanada.
Both came into the match with six points, yet were moving in opposite directions. Juice was coming off a loss to IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ and LIJ leader Tetsuya Naito during G1 Climax 30 Night 12.
G1 Climax 30: Juice v Sanada
Sanada was coming off a victory against NEVER Openweight Champion and Bullet Club member Kenta, giving him three straight victories within G1 Climax 30.
The match saw the two competitors trade the advantage with Juice using his straight forward impact style and Sanada using a flashy Pescado and several other techniques in stark contrast to Juice.
Sanada controlled the latter stages of the match with Juice fighting to use his Pulp Friction technique, however, Sanada had the answer each time Juice attempted to drop him with it.
Sanada was able to use his Skull End submission to wear down Juice, who showed his fighting spirit in refusing to submit to it. However, Sanada was able to get the fall at the 15 minutes and 6 seconds mark with his Moonsault technique.
The victory moves Sanada to 8 points, giving him a fighting chance to with the G1 Climax 30 B Block and advance to the finals. He has upcoming matches against the former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi (October 14th) and his former Cold Darkness tag team partner Evil (October 17th).
If Sanada wins both matches, he could very well complete his run and move on to the finals.
Juice will finish his campaign against former four-time Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion and Suzuki-Gun member Zack Sabre Jr (October 14th) and former two-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion and CHAOS member Hirooki Goto (October 17th).
