With only two matches left for all twenty wrestlers competing in G1 Climax 30, the contests going into G1 Climax 30 Night 15 will determine who has a chance to win the block going into the final day for A Block.
Okada (CHAOS) v Ishii (CHAOS)
Former five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and G1 Climax 22 and G1 Climax 24 winner and CHAOS member “Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada faces unit mate former five-time NEVER Openweight Champion and former two-time Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion “Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii in the marquee match of the event.
Okada is coming off a hard-fought victory against former NEVER Openweight Champion and Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member Shingo Takagi during G1 Climax 30 Night 13 while Ishii was unable to defeat former NEVER Openweight Champion Jeff Cobb on the same night.
A win for Okada would guarantee he remains relevant going into the final days of tournament action; he may need the victory to avoid being eliminated if “Switchblade” Jay White and Kota Ibushi win their earlier matches.
Switchblade (Bullet Club) v Suzuki (Suzuki-Gun)
Former IWGP Heavyweight, IWGP Intercontinental, and IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion “Switchblade” Jay White faces current NEVER Openweight Champion Minoru Suzuki in the headline match.
Switchblade is coming off a troubling victory over fellow Bullet Club member Yujiro, while Suzuki was unable to defeat former IWGP Intercontinental Champion “Golden Star” Kota Ibushi on G1 Climax 30 Night 13.
A victory for Switchblade keeps him as A Block front runner going into the final night of A Block competition, while Suzuki could put him in a difficult situation.
After his blow up with Yujiro, a rattled Switchblade could be vulnerable to the vicious Suzuki.
Taichi (Suzuki-Gun) v Shingo (LIJ)
Former two-time NEVER Openweight Champion and Suzuki-Gun member Taichi faces former NEVER Openweight Champion and LIJ member Shingo Takagi.
Shingo is coming off a loss to Kazuchika Okada in his previous G1 Climax 30 match, while Taichi is coming off a loss to current Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay.
Both had great performances, but have little to show from their previous match in the campaign. A victory for either could put them in line to challenge Suzuki for the NEVER Openweight Championship; especially, if Shingo can defeat Suzuki on October 16th, like Taichi was able to early during the tournament.
Ibushi (Hontai) v Yujiro (Bullet Club)
Kota Ibushi needs a win to stay on pace going into the final day of G1 Climax 30 A Block action, while Yujiro will attempt to play the role of spoiler.
Ibushi is coming off a victory against current NEVER Openweight Champion Minoru Suzuki, while Yujiro lost to fellow Bullet Club member Jay White during his last outing.
A loss from Ibushi would mean White would win the A Block if he is able to win his final two tournament matches, and would be a measure of pride for Yujiro who has yet to tally a victory.
Cobb (Hontai) v Ospreay (CHAOS)
The opening tournament match of G1 Climax 30 Night 15 sees former NEVER Openweight Champion Jeff Cobb against the current Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay.
Ospreay is coming off a victory against Taichi, while Cobb is coming off a victory against Ishii. Cobb was on the best form of his career against Ishii and will need a repeat of such to defeat Ospreay.
Cobb was able to defeat Ospreay during the G1 Supercard on April 6, 2019 for the NEVER Openweight Championship in the only singles match between the two before this match.
Ospreay will win the A Block if he wins out and Ibushi loses or ties one of his final two matches.
