WrestleMania 37 is still a number of months away, but fans will already be looking towards the biggest matches that could take place at the biggest show of the year. It’s hugely likely that the main event of the show will see Roman Reigns defending his Universal Championship, as it is incredibly unlikely that he will be dropping the title between now and April.
But, should he remain champion, which credible challengers are there to step up to take on the tribal chief? And, who are the most realistic contenders for the main event slot alongside Reigns?
WWE News: The Rock vs Reigns
The biggest match that has been spoken about over the past couple of months is that of The Rock and Roman Reigns. The Rock has revealed that he would be open to returning to the ring to take on Reigns, and there is already a clear path that this story could go in following the matches between Reigns and Jey Uso. That story that has been told between Uso and Reigns has been one of the best that we have seen in WWE for many years, and it has given so much more credibility to the reign that the current champion is having.
However, to be rightfully seen as the most dominant Samoan in WWE history, he will likely have to take on The Rock at some point. Next year could be the time for it to happen, but it will be unfortunate to see this calibre of match behind closed doors.
WWE News: Reigns vs Big E
Any chance of The Rock vs Reigns happening will likely hinge on the ongoing situation revolving around whether the match will take place in front of fans. Reigns vs Rock would be huge, and would deserve an audience in attendance, which could mean that the WWE pushes plans for that match back, and instead opts to give Big E his huge opportunity. Big E remains among the favourites to win the Royal Rumble in January, and that could set up a huge match with Reigns at Mania.
The two would be able to have an excellent match, and fans will be in the corner of Big E just as they were for Kofi Kingston a couple of years ago. It would be the best way for the WWE to create a new star, as victory for Big E would solidify his place as one of the biggest stars in the company.
