WWE Smackdown Preview thinks it was bound to happen given their history, but the New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods) will say goodbye to each other and their fans tonight.
To go out in style, they’re facing off against Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro, and Sheamus in a 6 man tag team match.
While the outcome of this is a foregone conclusion (seems to be the story of the night), it’ll give fans the chance to see all three members of the New Day in action one final time as they go out with a victory.
There could be an unexpected swerve here, but we don’t think so. It doesn’t make sense to do that here.
Draft separation
During last week’s draft, Kingston and Woods were drafted by Raw as the tag team champions, and because there are only two belts Big E was left on Smackdown.
While this has caused some angst among fans, it’ll give Big E a fresh start in pursuing his singles career, which was starting to take off when the team was reunited for the draft.
This match will also give Big E a chance to close the book on his feud Sheamus (though that was already taken care of last week) before Sheamus heads off to Raw as well.
At least, the lack of brand separation is understandable here, though WWE Smackdown Preview doubts it’ll be enforced for long if at all depending on how the ratings fare.
Street Profits go blue
On WWE Raw, Smackdown replaced the New Day with the Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins), and the two teams had an amicable belt swap on the show.
Tonight, the Street Profits will defend the Smackdown Tag Team Championship against Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, both of whom are back on the blue brand.
Was there really a draft or did WWE hit the reset switch on the year?
This should be a good match, but like the others that have been advertised, the ending is easy to see simply because the Street Profits won’t lose their titles in their first Smackdown match.
Not unless they really pissed off the boss or the WWE tries for an unexpected swerve here.
Now, Roode and Ziggler could win by count out or something along those lines, but we don’t see it happening.
However, Roode and Ziggler could lose by disqualification if King Corbin interferes and the WWE wants to recreate the grouping from their days tormenting Roman Reigns.
Again, we don’t see this happening as the Street Profits will win cleanly, even if they have to beat off any interference.
