In 3 days at AEW Full Gear, we get the second round of Hikaru Shida vs. Nyla Rose. Rose has been absent from Dynamite for months, apparently waiting for Shida to decide to challenge her before she’d come back. An odd tactic, but one that clearly worked as Rose got her match.
Now, Rose has a chance to warm up on AEW Dynamite, as she will face Red Velvet, who could soon join The Nightmare Family. It isn’t going to be a hard one to predict, but Velvet could potentially pull off an upset.
Nyla Rose Tears Red Velvet Apart
Red Velvet would get this match started fast with a running dropkick, and some forearms. She’d dodge a blow from Rose, and choked her in the corner once she got the heavyweight down. Rose would create distance and just run Velvet down, and pull her up by the throat.
Heavy body shots in the corner and a lariat would drop Velvet, and Rose stared daggers at Shida. Rose would take Velvet lightly and she’d slip out of a slow Samoan Drop attempt and kick the back of the leg. This wouldn’t drop Rose, and Velvet hoped a diving senton would.
Instead, this got her caught in position for the Beast Bomb. She’d try to counter out, but Rose locked Velvet in and dropped her. However, she wouldn’t take the pin, pulling Velvet off the mat. Rose would mock Shida with a bow, and hit the running knee strike on Velvet, sending a very clear message to the champion at ringside. This was a dominant win, and Rose is ready for Full Gear.
The Better Champion Right Now?
With the AEW Women’s Division being in rough shape at the moment, it might be for the best that Nyla Rose retakes the belt. A dominant monster heel champion is the type you can feed smaller challengers too, and that is all AEW has right now. Shida is the better wrestler, she’s popular with the fans, but she’s beaten every viable challenger that there is right now.
