New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and the New Japan of American (NJoA) subsidiary open the Detonation tour with Road to Detonation on November 27, 2020, coming off the Showdown tour that came to an end on last weeks New Japan Strong episode.
The marquee match showcases the newly former NJPW version of Team Filthy as “Filthy” Tom Lawlor, JR Kratos, Rust Taylor, and newest member Danny Limelight team to face Jeff Cobb, former eight-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Rocky Romero, “Mr. No Days Off” Fred Rosser, and Ring of Honor (ROH) roster member PJ Black.
Lawlor defeated Rosser in a critically acclaimed match from Showdown Night 1 that aired two became available for streaming two weeks ago. The submission loss was the first fall Rosser has taken in an NJPW ring. After Limelight turned on Romero, Rocky will look for revenge against the man he was hoping to mentor during his NJPW career.
The headline match of the event sees former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champion and World Tag League 2019 winner (w/David Finlay as FinJuice) “The Flamboyant” Juice Robinson and ACH team for the first time against Adrian Quest and Jordan Clearwater.
Robinson and ACH have the experience advantage over Quest and Clearwater, who are attempting to establish themselves within NJPW. ACH is preparing to take part in the one-night Super J Cup, which takes place on December 12th.
The opening match of the event sees NJPW Los Angeles (LA) Dojo Young Lion and Lion’s Break Crown 2020 winner Clark Connors take on Logan Riegel. The two have been a part of a new rivalry as Connors has been teaming with The DKC against The Riegel Twins (Logan/Sterling Riegel) in recent weeks.
A victory for Riegel will show that he can defeat the best young talent within NJPW in singles competition, while Connors would like to establish he is ready to graduate from the Young Lion system as Super J Cup 2020 approaches.
