This year has been shockingly good for fans of Ring of Honor. They started off strong before being shut down completely by COVID-19, then came back even better. The Pure Title tournament was great, and everything else they’ve been doing on ROH TV has been just as good. Now they’re coming back to PPV, with Final Battle on November 18th. What can we expect from this card?
Will ROH Champion Rush & TV Champion Dragon Lee Be Back In Time?
While Ring of Honor has re-entered a steady groove, their top champions have been absent. Both ROH Champion RUSH & the ROH TV Champion Dragon Lee have been absent, remaining down in Mexico with their families. However, there have been rumblings of them returning, and potential matches in play.
Brody King recently dropped former champion Dalton Castle in a big singles showing, and has taken aim at Rush himself. This could easily find a big match feel if Rush returns, with them being two men who are nearly undefeated in singles action. It would be a first time match, always great for a PPV event.
Shane Taylor is also in the mix, but with how often ROH has referenced his great TV Title reign, and with Dragon Lee having ended it at Final Battle last year? That seems like his match for the event, and with how good it was last time, it should be another classic.
Kenny King Wants The Pure Title
During the Pure Title tournament, Kenny King was the only man to lose by judge decision, something he’s protesting to this day. This is valid, he had Josh Woods on the ropes and even locked in a single leg crab when the time limit passed, King only losing due to one judge disliking his use of the closed right hand. It’s an easy story to put together for Final Battle, and he would give Gresham a tough challenge.
Jonathan Gresham Will Likely Do Double Duty
While Gresham is the reigning Pure Champion, he’s also one half of the ROH Tag Team Champions with Jay Lethal. They have had The Briscoes breathing down their necks since they took the titles from them, and they have a title shot in their back pocket. This will likely be used for Final Battle, as they look for reign twelve with the belts. Gresham will likely be down to defend both titles on this night, to show he’s truly The Foundation of the company.
The only other teased matches is a rematch between Matt Taven & Vincent, and whatever is in the works for EC3. Are you excited for ROH Final Battle? Will these be the matches we see? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
