Moments After The Beginning Of The Best Of The Super Juniors 27 Match Between Hiromu Takahashi And Taiji Ishimori On November 15, 2020 via New Japan Pro Wrestling

The co Best of the Super Juniors (BOSJ 27) and World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) tournaments got underway on November 15, 2020. The event at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium drew a crowd of 2,558 (reduced crowd due to Coronavirus, 2019), and witnessed the largest card since New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) returned from the COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) delay.

The marquee match of the event and fifth BOSJ 27 match of the card saw reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and Bullet Club member “Bone Soldier” Taiji Ishimori face former three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and BOSJ 25 (2018) winner “Time Bomb” Hiromu Takahashi.

Ishimori defeated Hirmou during the latter’s V2 defense during his second reign with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship during Summer Struggle in Jingu to begin his second reign with the title. Earlier, Hirmou would defeat Ishimori during the BOSJ 25 Finals on June 4, 2018.

The match would begin at a quick pace, with both wrestlers wanting to force their capable opponent into an early mistake. The early portions of the match would be back and forth until Ishimori drilled Hiromu with a Piledriver on the apron.

The move took the air out of the crowd as the fans in attendance thought that was the end of the contest for Takahashi. However, the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion was not able to put away Hiromu, who showed despite his zany attitude, that he has a strong fighting spirit.

Despite the pain, Hiromu was able to gain the fall on the champion at the 20 minutes and 6 seconds mark after his Time Bomb technique. The victory puts Hiromu in a solid position as he moves on to face El Desperado on November 18th. Ishimori faces “Funky Weapon” Ryusuke Taguchi on the same night as he attempts to get back on the right track.
