It would have been an emotional day for a former two-weight world champion, as it was revealed Ricky Hatton’s son, Campbell Hatton has signed a multi-fight deal with Matchroom. The deal means that Hatton will be linking up with heavyweight boxing promoter Eddie Hearn.
Hearn already represents some of the biggest names in the sport, including Anthony Joshua, who will have his sights set on a heavyweight title showdown on Saturday evening against Kubrat Pulev. The signed deal means that Campbell Hatton will be stepping into the ring for the first time as a professional next year.

The exact date that Campbell will be making his professional debut has yet to be announced, but Hearn admitted that it will take place in February next year. After the announcement was made, Hatton revealed that it was a ‘dream come true’ to sign with the prestigious promoter, and that he was chomping at the bit to get started in the ring.
Hearn revealed that the meeting with the father and son made his ‘hairs’ stand up, as he confessed that something special can be done moving forward with the boxer in Manchester. Hatton also was named Fighter of the Year in 2005. His success led him to a WBC unification bout with Floyd Mayweather, which the Brit lost by KO. A second defeat quickly followed against Manny Pacquiao, as he lost the IBO belt. Hatton revealed after that second brutal defeat that he would be taking a break from the ring, before returning to face Vyacheslav Senchenko in 2012. However, his return from a three-year break didn’t go as planned as he lost in the ninth round by KO.
