On November 28th New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) presented World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) from the Fujisawa City Akibadai Cultural Gymnasium in Niigata, Japan in Kanagawa, Japan in front of 1,051 fans. COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) safety restrictions were responsible for the reduced crowd size, yet the crowd was lively throughout, providing a great atmosphere.
The third series match of the event saw reigning IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and Suzuki-Gun members Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr/Taichi) take over the Bullet Club tandem of Evil/Yujiro. Both teams came into the match with a (3-2) record, presenting a swing opportunity for each, with the champions needing a victory to keep pace with the top of the table.
Coming into the match Dangerous Tekkers gained a victory over the Empire team of Jeff Cobb/Great-O-Khan on November 24th, while Evil/Yujiro lost to HenarAce (Hiroshi Tanahashi/Toa Henare) on the same night.
Evil/Yujiro made the match extremely difficult for their Suzuki-Gun opponents from the very beginning, using an early attack to dictate the pace through the early portions of the contest. However, Zack Sabre Jr and Taichi were able to mount an effective comeback, helped by their gained experience as a team over the past three years.
The champions were able to overcome the interference from Evil’s manager, “The Spoiler” Dick Togo who almost put the Bullet Club team over the top. Yet, Zack Sabre Jr was able to gain the fall over Yujiro at the 13 minutes and 58 seconds mark after he and Taichi used the Zack Mephisto technique.
The victory moved the Suzuki-Gun team to (4-2) [8 points] while the Bullet Club team dropped to (3-3) [6 points]. Dangerous Tekkers would go on to face former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and WTL 2019 winners FinJuice (Juice Robinson/David Finlay) on November 30th, while Evil/Yujiro faced Cobb/O-Kharn on the same night as NJPW continued the WTL 2020 tournament.
