Reigning IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and Suzuki-Gun members Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr/Taichi) come into World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) with a lot of momentum behind them. Despite Dangerous Tekkers performing well during WTL 2018 & WTL 2019, their ascension to IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions came as a surprise to many New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) fans in the west.
Since winning the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship against Golden Ace (Hiroshi Tanahashi/Kota Ibushi) at Dominion July 12, 2020, Dangerous Tekkers has looked like one of the best tag teams in the world, putting out top-shelf performances.
They along with former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions FinJuice (Juice Robinson/David Finlay), former six-time IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Guerillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga/Tanga Loa) [GOD], and Sanada/”The Dragon” Shingo Takagi are favorites to collect the trophies at the culmination of the tournament. However, the champions will see themselves tested often as they attempt to win WTL in their third consecutive tournament.
The highlighted matches for Dangerous Tekkers see them face Sanada/Shingo (November 19th), GOD (November 22nd), and FinJuice (November 30th). Dangerous Tekkers will need to win the majority of those matches if they hope to advance to WTL 2020 Finals. Yet, if they don’t they have the luxury of holding the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship, meaning their place at Wrestle Kingdom 15 is likely secure.
Dangerous Tekkers will need to finish within the top several places of the WTL 2020 bracket to keep their momentum going in the right direction going into Wrestle Kingdom. If they can win the tournament as champions, they will likely be able to name their challengers for the Tokyo Dome.
However, the duo has many questions to answer before they get to name their opposition.
