After a promising year for Ring Of Honor was interrupted by COVID-19, they picked up in a hurry. The Pure Rules tournament brought views back, and brought some of the best matches we’ve seen all year, but now it’s time for ROH to show what they can do on PPV again. It’s time for Final Battle, often their biggest show of the year. RUSH will defend the ROH World Championship against Brody King, Jonathan Gresham is doing double duty and more! Let’s break down the announced matches for this event.
Rush Looks To Defend The ROH World Championship Against Brody King
After losing the ROH World Championship to PCO at last year’s Final Battle, Rush would quickly regroup and win the belt back just before everything shut down. Since then, he’s been down in Mexico, but it’s time to show his worth as champion.
His challenger is a daunting one, someone who could rival dominant champions of the past like Samoa Joe & Takeshi Morishima. This is the heavyweight bruiser that is Brody King. He’s a singles star at last, has recent wins of Dalton Castle & Shane Taylor, and while those wins are big? Tonight he’s gonna prove he belongs on top.
Jonathan Gresham Looks To Prove He Is The Foundation Of ROH
This has been the year of double champions, and recently Jonathan Gresham joined that list. He was already one half of the ROH Tag Team Champions with Jay Lethal, but would win the Pure Rules tournament to become the ROH Pure Champion as well. That means, tonight he defends both of his championships.
Alongside Jay Lethal, he will defend the ROH Tag Team Championships against the insane duo of PCO & Mark Briscoe, who are hot off a win over The Bouncers. On the Pure Championship side, he has the freshly returned Flip Gordon gunning for him, who proved his worth by beating Josh Woods. It’s gonna be a hard night for Gresham, but if anyone can pull it off, it’s him!
Dragon Lee Has To Plan For Four Different Opponents
Starting up Final Battle, four men will duke it out to see who will face Dragon Lee for the ROH TV Championship. It’s Dak Draper vs. LSG vs. Tony Deppen vs. Josh Woods in a Four Corners Survival match, with the winner moving onto Dragon Lee later in the night.
These four men have recently proved themselves mostly in Pure Rules matches, but any of them could go all the way and win both their matches tonight. Dragon Lee will have to be ready for anything, but atleast he knows to expect a talented grappler.
The Rest Of The Card
While those are the major Championship matches, we have a fair bit more on offer. Danhausen fights Brian Johnson to keep his ROH contract. Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus face off with Fred Yehi & Wheeler Yuta in the first ever Pure Rules tag team match. Finally, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett of The Kingdom take on Vincent and Bateman of The Righteous in a grudge match.
The easiest way to watch will be through HonorClub, which is around $12.99 a month. You can also watch through FiteTV.
