At Final Battle, Mark Briscoe is using the shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championships that has been sitting in his back pocket. The 11 time champion isn’t riding with his normal partner however. Jay Briscoe is currently in a singles feud with EC3, forcing Mark to find a new teammate.
Thankfully, he came across the former ROH World Champion, PCO. They have one chance to practice their chemistry before Final Battle, and it’s tonight against The Bouncers, Beer City Bruiser and Brawler Milonas. Should The Bouncers get the win tonight, they could stake claim for a match for those titles down the line.
The Bouncers come into this match on a four match win streak, and are ready for another fight.
The Bouncers Throw Their Weight Around
With a total weight of 1258lbs, this is a beefy match. Bruiser started alongside Briscoe, and Briscoe was outpowered with ease. Briscoe stuck and moved, got a big forearm and that was what Bruiser wanted. He’d corner Briscoe again and nail a heavy chop. Briscoe wanted to fight, and they’d just trade shots in the ring, before Briscoe tried for Sussex Chicken Kung-Fu and got run through by a crossbody block.
Bruiser ripped Briscoes shirt off in the corner and chopped his exposed chest. Briscoe came back with a forearm and PCO was tagged in. The heavyweight brawl can begin, as PCO & Milonas squared off. PCO was ready to fight after months away, and he’d chop Milonas down and hit a DDT.
Milonas came back fast with a crossbody block, peak agility for him. He’d go to the middle rope and missed a body splash, with PCO slowly rolling out of the way as Milonas fell in slow motion. PCO came back with an equally slow rolling forearm, and Milonas fell outside PCO to hit a dive. Finally bringing some speed to the match, Bruiser hit a rolling senton off the apron & Briscoe dove in as well as we went to a commercial break.
PCO Ends This One
Coming back from the break, Bruiser is in control of Briscoe before PCO tags back in. PCO & Bruiser trade shots and Bruiser missed a tag to Briscoe. Bruiser was set on the apron, PCO went for the Swanton Bomb, but missed and crashed hard. Briscoe was planted with a spinebuster, and Milonas came back in for some brawling and an exploder suplex.
Briscoe was isolated by The Bouncer, and tried to escape before being slammed to the mat. He’d dodge the Vader Bomb and tag PCO in for more strikes before hitting a headlock driver for a two count. This brawl moved to the outside, Briscoe using a chair to dive onto Milonas and hit a dropkick on Bruiser.
He missed the Froggy-Bow, hit a Uranage on Bruiser, and PCO hit the moonsault to finally end this match. If this match was supposed to get fans excited for PCO & Briscoe ahead of Final Battle, they did a horrible job. Maybe with Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham not being one of the slowest teams in wrestling things will improve, but this was possibly one of the worst matches I’ve seen in a long time.
The action was slow, PCO looked horrible, Brawler Milonas might be the worst wrestler in ROH, and it was all around not well booked. Do PCO & Briscoe deserve a second chance after a lacking first impression? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
