Charlotte Flair hasn’t been seen on WWE television since losing the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: In Your House. She dropped the gold to Io Shirai at that enjoyable event and quickly revealed that she was taking time away from the ring.
However, fans have continued to speculate when she could be returning to the ring, as a return is looking more and more likely as we get closer to WrestleMania season. Her return was teased during the WWE Draft, as she was drafted to Raw. However, could that indicate that her return is close as we get towards 2021?
WWE News: Teaming With Andrade
One of the ideas that has been rumoured on social media recently have indicated that Charlotte Flair could return and be aligned with her real life boyfriend Andrade. It would certainly be an interesting element that fans will be invested in seeing, as many fans believe that Andrade has been underused throughout his WWE career to this point and aligning him with Charlotte will ensure that he will be placed towards the top of the card. This could see both superstars compete for the respective world titles on the Raw brand.
WWE News: Rivalry With Asuka
There is no love lost between Flair and Asuka, and if the WWE are going to pick up on a rivalry that still has more to give, then this would be an obvious starting point. Charlotte ended Asuka’s record breaking run as an undefeated superstar back at Mania, and could target the Empress as soon as she returns from her time away from the ring. There will also be benefits for Asuka, as he will be able to have a meaningful feud for the women’s title on Raw, which in itself would be a rarity.
WWE News: Charlotte Wins Royal Rumble
One of the ideas that many fans will be sternly against is the idea that Charlotte returns to win the Royal Rumble match. It isn’t unlikely that this could happen, as the WWE often give Flair the rub in the biggest matches. However, Flair won the same match just 12 months ago before challenging for the Women’s NXT title, and a repeat winner will likely irritate fans when better stories can be told by the likes of Alexa Bliss or Bianca Belair winning the match.
