Last week, MJF & Chris Jericho became the official tag team of The Inner Circle, beating Santana & Ortiz as well as Sammy Guevara & Jake Hager in a triple threat tag team match. Tonight, they look to start their rise up the tag team ranks by facing Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison, better known as The Varsity Blondes. Jericho & MJF are clear winners on paper, but overconfidence can be a killer.
Griff Garrison Did Not Forget About Last Time
After Jericho got his weekly ego boost from the crowd singing Judas, MJF grabbed the microphone. He’d start the match with Griff Garrison, and pick up where their last encounter left off. Garrison punched him in the face about fifteen times, before fleeing the ring to try to get away. A big boot got MJF looking for a steel chair, but Inner Circle stopped him.
Chris Jericho tagged in, and was taken down by Garrison. Pillman tagged in, and got Jericho with a dropkick. He was trained by Jericho’s best friend, Lance Storm, and knows the playbook of Jericho very well. The arm of Jericho was grabbed, but he’d fight free with the free arm, only to be dropped with a lariat. It took a cheap shot from MJF to get Pillman down, and he’d tag in to remain in control during the commercial break.
Chris Jericho & MJF Score Another Win
Coming back from the break, Pillman had been tagged in, and got Jericho with a flying crossbody for a near fall. Garrison & MJF tagged in, and MJF was decked with two big lariats before a huge back body drop. Jericho got rocked with the discus elbow, before Garrison hit both men with a double spear.
Piillman Jr. hit a missile dropkick, sending MJF into a tag from Jericho, who took a superkick and was nearly pinned. Jericho hit some heavy strikes before being sent to the outside by Pillman, who wanted Air Pillman. Instead, he was taken out of the sky with a Judas Effect, before a picture perfect Lionsault ended the match. Garrison was taken out by The Inner Circle behind the referee’s back, unable to break the pin up.
