According to reports, one of the biggest fights of the year has been agreed. The super middleweight duo of Canelo Alvarez and Blly Joe Saunders have reportedly agreed to face off in the ring this year, in what could be one of the most significant fights of this calendar year.
It would certainly be a blockbuster event at the box office, with fight fans having been calling for this bout for the previous couple of years. However, fans will likely not need to wait much longer to find out who the dominant fighter in the super middleweight division is if the reports are to be believed.

While an agreement on the fight is reportedly done, there is not yet a date or venue put on the mega fight between the two dominant boxers. It is believed that the fight will happen sometime in May. Meanwhile, the fight is more likely than not going to happen in the United States, with Texas likely to be among the front-runners. That would certainly be the preference for Alvarez, who’s last fight took place in Texas at the Alamodome.
That fight came against Callum Smith, who the Mexican outboxed throughout the whole 12 rounds to claim a straightforward decision victory. There certainly would be interest by Saunders to have the fight take place on British soil, but the chances of that happening would appear to be incredibly slim, as audiences are still not allowed back into any sporting event in the country. However, should the fight happen in Britain, it would be a massive occasion, as it would be the first time that the Mexican has fought across the pond.

There is a belief in the boxing world that the fight would take place on the weekend of Cinco De Mayo, which has been a weekend that Alvarez has fought on six times in the past. That could mean a date of either the 1st or 8th May, which means that fight fans will not need to wait long to see the contest.
