WWE is no stranger to making big money deals, and they’ve just made another billion dollar one. NBCU has purchased exclusive streaming rights for WWE Network in the United States of America. It will now be packaged in with their Peacock Streaming service, bringing 1.1 million paid subscribers over to their service.
Peacock Will Be The Only Way To Watch WWE Network In The United States
With this deal, WWE Network subscribers in the United States will have access to the same catalog, only through Peacock. It will also be 50% cheaper, and they will gain access to the Peacock library, just with ads. This means WWE Network will now cost $4.99, but for $9.99 you get Peacock’s shows without ads. Now you can watch a Hell in A Cell match and The Office on the same streaming service.
New PPV events like Wrestlemania will stream like normal, and there is no change to global accounts. Both WWE & NBCU are very excited about this deal, and hope that it will bring many more eyes to the WWE Product, and new subscribers to Peacock as well.
The Change Comes On March 18th, 2021
This change will happen on March 18th, 2021. Fastlane 2021 will be the first event to stream through Peacock, finally giving that show a purpose. Expect the usual technical issues with that event, so they can bring both nights of Wrestlemania 37 smoothly.
This means WWE is done doing any deals in the United States for a few years at least. NXT & Monday Night RAW are locked in on the USA Network, Friday Night Smackdown on Fox, and now the entire WWE Network with NBCU & Peacock. Now maybe they can finally get NXT on TV in Canada, instead of forcing Canadians to watch it the next night on the WWE Network, leaving AEW Dynamite uncontested in a major market.
Do you think this big deal will work out for both sides? Could this be what the WWE Network needed all along? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
