WWE has cut many names in the last few months, and the latest to join that list is Steve Cutler. Cutler was a former member of the ill fated Forgotten Sons stable, and recently seemed to find a role as a lackey for King Corbin alongside Wesley Blake. That idea was short-lived, after Cutler caught COVID-19.
Steve Cutler Was Positive For COVID-19 In Early January
Alongside his girlfriend, Impact Wrestling’s Deonna Purrazzo, Steve Cutler had tested positive for COVID-19 in early January. He showed no symptoms, but remained away from work. Reports indicate that Vince McMahon was furious about the whole incident, after he promised names like Roman Reigns that the locker room will be a safe environment. Cutler had held a New Years Party, where he was exposed to the deadly virus.
Cutler had even been working with wrestlers like Omos & Otis in the WWE Performance Center, after Vince McMahon sent some of the larger men on the roster there for extra training. He was fired from WWE on a day when he was helping with this extra training, where he was taking bumps for the heavyweights. Cutler is likely the first wrestler to be released from a company due to catching COVID-19.
Impact Wrestling Is A Likely Next Move
Considering Cutler has a link to Impact Wrestling through Deonna Purrazzo, we could see him show up there as soon as his 90 day non-compete clause is through. Cutler has often been overlooked within WWE, and his tag team work alongside Wesley Blake was always fantastic. Without Ryker having killed their push due to his actions on social media, Forgotten Sons might have even claimed the Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships.
He will fit in perfectly on the Impact Wrestling roster, being a proven tag team specialist who could also hang in the X-Division. Blake is now left alone on Smackdown Live, but there is a strong chance he reunites with Murphy, who he was former NXT Tag Team Champions with. Murphy has been off TV since the Mysterio family all caught COVID-19, ending his storyline romance with Aliyah Mysterio.
