This Sunday is out next NXT Takeover event, Vengeance Day. Bit of a missed chance to use St. Valentine’s Day Massacre again, seeing as it’s on February 14th, but that’s not too important. What is important is tonights card, which will set up two matches for that event as both the men & women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classics finish their semi finals. Also Austin Theory takes on KUSHIDA, and Karrion Kross has a message for everyone ahead of Vengeance Day. Let’s break down what we will see on tonight’s show.
Three Huge Matches In The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
Starting with the Women’s tournament, Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai already have their spot in the finals. Tonight, either Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell or Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon will push forward to Takeover. Blackheart & LeRae have been at each other’s throats since before WarGames, so tonight could signal the end of their feud.
In mens action, we will find out which teams make both sides of the finals. MSK takes on Legado Del Fantasma in what should be a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ type of match. Wes Lee & Nash Carter have been doing great since coming to NXT, but Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza have never looked better.
Finally, this year’s odd couple power pairing of Tomasso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher will face Grizzled Young Veterans. GYV made the finals last year before losing to Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne, and won’t be keen on losing to another thrown together team. The winners of the men’s matches will meet at Takeover this Sunday.
KUSHIDA Faces Austin Theory
Last night on Twitter, Austin Theory would inform everyone that NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano will not make it to Takeover due to an injury. This puts KUSHIDA’s championship match up in the air, but instead he gets to face Theory tonight on NXT.
It’s hard to trust an injury update when it comes from Theory and Theory alone, especially when Gargano has been trying everything to get out of his match with KUSHIDA. This will be an interesting one to see how it plays out, but I wouldn’t stop the hype train for KUSHIDA & Gargano until we get more information.
What Does Karrion Kross Have Planned For Takeover?
With Pete Dunne getting the next shot at NXT Champion Finn Balor, and no major rivals, Karrion Kross might have to sit out NXT Takeover this time around. Tonight, he will appear alongside Scarlett, and let everyone know what to expect from the demonic duo at Takeover.
Also announced is the in-ring return of Cameron Grimes, who has recovered from an injury suffered in late 2020. What are you most excited for tonight on NXT? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
