WWE NXT Preview For 02/24/2021 [Adam Cole Explains Himself, Escobar vs. Kross In No DQ Match]

Things are heating up in NXT once again, after a red hot Takeover event lit a fire under everyone. Tonight, NXT has a big show planned, including finally getting answers from Adam Cole about his cowardly attacks on Finn Balor & Kyle O’Reilly. We will also see Karrion Kross lock up with NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar, for sure this time. Let’s break down these two big stories, and more.

Why Did Adam Cole Do It? We’re Going To Find Out

Last week, fans hoped to get some answers from former leader of The Undisputed Era, Adam Cole. Instead, he just crashed the main event six man tag team match, and laid out Kyle O’Reilly with a brainbuster on the steel steps. This led to O’Reilly being stretched out, something a fan in attendance mistook as O’Reilly taking a seizure.

It was an answer in it’s own right, but this week he promises to break his silence. On Twitter, he said the following. “This Wednesday on NXT… I explain everything. And it’s a lot more than just ‘why’…” The Undisputed Era is all but dead after running NXT for years, but Cole remains in the spotlight. All according to plan perhaps.

Santos Escobar Can’t Back Away From Karrion Kross Now

On last week’s show, we were supposed to see a grudge match between Karrion Kross and NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar. However, Escobar decided he wanted to do this on his own time, but he doesn’t control that; William Regal does. The NXT GM would inform Escobar that if he doesn’t show up this week, he will be suspended and stripped of his NXT Cruiserweight Championship. To make matters worse, it’s now a No Disqualification match.

Escobar is the best Cruiserweight WWE has seen in over a decade, but he’s in over his head tonight with a pissed off Kross and no rules to save him. Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza haven’t been any help, so it’s do or die time for Escobar. However, Escobar is not known to crack under pressure.

Also Announced, Two Champions In Non-Title Matches

Also announced for tonight is Dexter Lumis taking on NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano in a non-title match. This issue stems from Lumis kidnapping Austin Theory at Takeover. LA Knight has been commonly mentioned on their Twitter page, so he should make his debut tonight.

Grizzled Young Veterans will bounce back after losing another Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Final with a match against Killian Dain & Drake Maverick. Rookie Zoey Stark challenges the NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai in a non-title match. Finally, Xia Li faces Kacy Catanzaro. What are you most excited for tonight on NXT?
