Last night, Austin Theory gave a medical update on fellow The Way member, Johnny Gargano. Gargano suffered an arm injury at the hands of KUSHIDA, potentially putting him out of NXT Takeover where he was set to defend the NXT North American Championship against KUSHIDA.
The Nature Of The Injury Of Johnny Gargano
The nature of his injury is that he can’t walk… due to a broken arm. Now, he’s in a wheelchair. We all know how much Gargano HATES wheels. He also hates not being able to defend his championship. KUSHIDA should be suspended for this! However, Regal says this match will still happen, because the NXT medical team cleared him.
So either KUSHIDA faces Theory for the title, or Gargano loses the title right now. KUSHIDA showed up behind The Way, knocked out Theory, and proved Gargano was fine before knocking him silly with a right hand. It’s safe to say we still get this match at Takeover, unless Gargano claims to have a broken jaw after that punch from his next challenger.
Potential Match Of The Year Contender Incoming
Given how much of a big match player someone like Johnny Gargano is, and how skilled KUSHIDA is? Even with Gargano playing the role of a cowardly heel, this match at Takeover will be an absolute classic. Their interactions in tag team matches have been pure magic, and a full singles match this Sunday will show just how good they will be.
It’s hard to call if KUSHIDA or Gargano will win this match, as KUSHIDA has been on a roll lately, and winning the NXT North American Championship would be excellent for him. However, Gargano is just starting this reign, and is arguably the best part of NXT at the moment.
Later tonight, KUSHIDA will face Austin Theory in singles action. Since Gargano is fine, Theory won’t be defending the NXT North American Championship.
