WWE NXT Preview For 01/13/2021 [Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Begins, Johnny Gargano vs. Dexter Lumis]

It’s time for WWE NXT once again, and this week kicks off the 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic! Three tournament matches are the highlights of the night, but we have two big singles matches as well! Let’s break down what to expect from NXT tonight!

Dexter Lumis Gets A Non-Title Match With Johnny Gargano

Last week at New Years Evil, we saw Dexter Lumis as the host of the event. He signed a last minute mixed tag team match of Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae vs. KUSHIDA & Shotzi Blackheart, which the Garganos lost.

Now, Gargano wants revenge on the man who made this match happen. Lumis has been one win away from championship glory for a while now, and should he silence Gargano tonight? Next time these two meet could have the NXT North American Championship on the line.

Another Clash of Shotzi Blackheart & Candice LeRae

More fallout from the mixed tag team match from last week will also happen on this card, as Blackheart faces LeRae one on one. This is not a new issue like Gargano & Lumis, but one that stretches back into the build to NXT Takeover WarGames, where they led teams into the dual cages. That came just after LeRae ran over Blackhearts tank!

It seems the new year just means more from these two, and few fans will complain. Their chemistry remains amazing, and it’s only a matter of time before they get an Extreme Rules match on an NXT Takeover event.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Starts!

We also have three matches of Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic action set for tonight. Grizzled Young Veterans face off with Ever-Rise, in what could be an upset for Ever-Rise. Ever-Rise have been poking last year’s finalists for weeks now, and now finally get into the ring for a fair match with GYV.

Undisputed Era are represented by Adam Cole & Roderick Strong, and they take on Breezango tonight. These teams are both former NXT Tag Team Champions, and whoever gets the win could be a favorite to win it all.

Finally, we have a bit of mystery. On the official brackets seen on WWE.com, as Swerve & Jake Atlas are set to face a mystery team known as MSK. This could be the new name of Zachary Wentz & Desmond Xavier, better known as The Rascalz.
