Another Monday night means another episode of Raw, and the ante is beginning to step up, as we get closer to WrestleMania. There are still a number of road blocks for current champions to avoid if they are to reach the biggest show of the year.
A leading contender emerged for the WWE Championship last weekend, as Sheamus stepped up to challenge his former friend. Their match looks set to take place at Elimination Chamber, which is one of two PPVs to take place before WrestleMania this year.
WWE Raw: Sheamus And McIntyre Come Face To Face
Sheamus blindsided Drew McIntyre on Raw last week, after Edge stepped out to confront the reigning champion. Sheamus used that to his advantage last week to lay down his marker for the championship, and there will be hotly contested feud between the superstars to get fans in the mood for Mania. A rivalry between the two is something that has been spoken about for months, with McIntyre admitting that he would love to share the spotlight with his long-time friend.
Fans will expect to see the two clash at the upcoming two PPVs, before McIntyre moves on to defend his championship at Mania against another superstar. It will be interesting to see what happens when they come face-to-face tonight, and which superstar will gain the upper hand.
WWE Raw: Who’s Ready For Asuka?
Asuka has held the Raw Women’s Championship for an extended period of time, but there haven’t been many thrilling rivalries for the champion throughout her singles run. She has most recently been competing for the tag team championships, but we could see a shift in her mindset moving forward from tonight. There is no shortage of talent on the Raw women’s roster, but with Lacey Evans and Charlotte Flair settling their score, the door could be open for a new challenger at Elimination Chamber.
Alexa Bliss could be involved in the title scene, after beating Asuka clean a few weeks ago, while Mandy Rose and Naomi could also be engaging programmes on the run up to Mania this year. There is a sense that Asuka needs a huge meaningful rivalry before the end of her reign to ensure that the past 12 months won’t be completely forgotten about as soon as a new champion is crowned.
