Dexter Lumis literally kidnapped Austin Theory at NXT Takeover: Vengeance Day, all to ensure The Way wouldn’t disrupt the match between Johnny Gargano & KUSHIDA. Theory would be saved the following Wednesday on NXT, and showed signs of Stockholm Syndrome. Gargano would help this by saying the only reason Lumis let Theory go is that he found him annoying and has bad abs, which set Theory off on a warpath which leads to tonight’s one on one encounter.
Austin Theory Is All Alone
Theory was left alone with Lumis, the rest of The Way staying home. Lumis would stare a hole through Theory, only to be hit with some knee strikes to the stomach. Theory took him to the outside, slammed him off the announce table and took him into the ring to hit a front dropkick.
Lumis found back with a lariat, before hitting some heavy blows in the corner. He’d get Theory down, apply a camel clutch and hit clubbing blows across the face of Theory. Theory fought back and hit a snap suplex for a two count. He’d hit a running lariat into the corner before a fallaway slam.
Theory got a two count, but Lumis applied Silence as he kicked out. Lumis would almost get a submission, but Theory slipped out. Theory would go for a rolling DDT, but was planted with a spinebuster. Lumis hit some clubbing lariats, and a quick uppercut, before nailing the bulldog. A backdrop would see Lumis nip up and hit a leg drop, getting a two count.
Dexter Lumis Wants Silence
Lumis would go for a vertical suplex, but Theory slipped behind and went for a roll up. This got a two count, before he hit a slingshot suplex before going to the top rope. He’d size Theory up but miss the Frog Splash. Lumis crawled towards Theory in his usual manner, but Theory wasn’t phased and hit a running elbow to the face of Lumis, before hitting a Fisherman Buster for a near fall.
Lumis fired back with a lariat when he got to his feet, before offering Theory a handshake. Theory would accept, before hugging it out with Lumis. Lumis went for silence, but Theory slipped out. Theory went for the ATL, but was locked in Silence as a counter, ending this match.
