WWE Raw Results returned as after a brief recap of Styles and Orton’s confrontation earlier, Styles was asked about what Orton said a short time ago and Styles said he didn’t expect him to challenge him to a match.
He added Orton’s twisted in the head and he shouldn’t be focused on him but the Fiend, and Orton will just put all of his frustration into a bubble and put a bit loss on top of it heading into WrestleMania.
AJ Styles w/Omos vs. Randy Orton
Orton backed Styles into the corner on their first lockup, and while the referee was trying to separate them he nailed Styles around the official.
He kept pounding on Styles and then bounced his head off the top turnbuckle and then stomped on Styles’ hands before slamming him into another turnbuckle and hit an uppercut.
Orton went for the RKO but Styles slipped free and out of the ring to buy some time.
Orton followed him to the floor and Styles darted into the ring and stomped Orton when he rolled in.
Orton reversed a whip into the ropes and hit Styles with a reverse elbow, and then hit with a kick and raked his laced across Styles’ face.
Styles slipped to the floor and Orton followed him and hit a suplex on the announce desk before staring down Omos.
He rolled Styles into the ring, and Styles hit with a shoulder to knock Orton to the floor, and then hit a forearm over the top rope as we headed to commercial.
Styles raises hit intensity
Back from commercial, they were back in the ring and Styles was in control, stomping Orton in the corner.
Styles then hit a trio of shoulders and whipped Orton into the opposing corner where he caught Orton’s boot attempt and kicked Orton’s leg, then kicked and stomped him down.
Styles slammed Orton’s left foot into the mat, then wrapped them in the bottom rope and dropped on his left leg while it was draped on the rope.
Styles went for Orton’s leg in the corner and Orton tried to fight out of it, but Styles hit s bog right to drop him.
Styles then tore at Orton’s face, but Orton hit a couple of kicks and Styles hit a step up kick.
Styles picked him up to his knees and locked in a reverse chin lock. Orton tried to reach the ropes, and Styles hit him with an elbow.
Orton got to his feet and grabbed the ropes but Styles pulled him back.
Orton managed to force Styles into a corner and hit a reverse elbow, then followed it with a few rights of his own, and then a clothesline to buy some time.
Orton then hit a snap powerslam for a near pinfall.
Orton went for a suplex, but Styles slipped out and hit s chop, but Orton reversed a whip into a backbreaker for a near pinfall.
Orton slammed Styles into a turnbuckle and sat him on the top rope and nailed him with a couple of rights before climbing up.
Styles slipped out of the superplex attempt and hit s chop block. Styles then went for a Phenomenal Forearm, but Orton hit the ropes to drop Styles onto the apron.
Styles avoided a draping DDT and went for a Calf Crusher. Orton tried to get to the ropes and Styles pulled him back, but Orton hit with a kick and then with an uppercut and a draping DDT.
Orton readied to hit the RKO but Omos pulled Styles out of the ring.
Alexa Bliss appeared on the titantron and called Randy’s name as she played a jack in the box and said not yet.
She then lit a match and blew it out and fire erupted from the ring posts. Orton started choking and spit out a mouthful of the black substance we’ve been seeing.
Styles took advantage of it and hit a Phenomenal Forearm for the win.
Kiss of Bliss
After the match, Orton was in the ring as Bliss laughed on the titantron and the lights turned pink to close out the show.
This was a cool match and a decent show overall, though we think it would’ve been best if it’s ended at two hours with Styles and Orton closing it out.
The last half of the show limped along while the first half felt more like the pace and excitement of the Attitude Era.
We also loved the no leg slapping rule for kicks. It was so much better and smoother, in our opinion.
